You are welcome; anytime.
I have my fingers crossed and prayers going too. :)
Yes, no one knows your body better than you; that is very true. The trick is to get someone to listen and do something about it. :)
once again, many thanks for responding! thru a friend, i have found the name of a dr. not too far from me that is a gyn oncologist. i will try first thing tomorrow morning to get an appt. to see her. that way, i can kill 2 birds with one stone, so to speak. i know myself well enough to know that i will not rest until i have been seen by a specialist in the field. thank you for being so understanding of my situation and feelings!! keep your fingers crossed that she is taking new patients and will be able to fit me in soon!
When was you last GYN visit? I would recommend seeing just a regular GYN and go from there. She/he can do a lab workup, assessment, etc. GYN Oncologists exist.
As far as the CT, consult an Oncologist and get his/her opinion.
I can completely understand your distrust and frustration with the medical profession; I have the same concerns and I WORK in this profession. There are alot of "brush-offs," "hmms" and over medicating, etc. with very little or no investigation. On the other hand, there are alot of conditions/diseases that we just don't fully understand or see alot of, i.e. Chiari Malformations; can be difficult to find someone who FIRST knows what it is and secondly be competent to manage it. These malformations are being detected more often nowadays because of the MRI. Hopefully, this will spur medical advancement with this terrible condition.
From reading you posts in this forum NONE of them sound Chiari related to me.
it had been over 3 years when i bled in 11/09....they said it was because of stress from the upcoming surgery i was having. but to be completely honest, i was NOT stressed out at all!!! i was very much at peace because i knew it would take a lot of my pain away and would help me. and they only checked my cervix...nothing else. is there such a thing as a gyn oncologist?
and i do believe you're right about wanting things investigated! it took them 8 1/2 years to figure out i had a chiari malformation and even then, i did the drs work for them! so it is very very hard for me to trust in the medical profession! and it makes me very nervous to have something inside of me that doesn't belong there. with all my other symptoms, alot of which i have been blaming on the chiari, could be something else entirely! guess i'm just befuddled right now....
thanks for responding londres.
Is this vaginal bleeding or are you urinating blood? Well, it has not been four years since you have bled; you had some bleeding in 11/09. I think this bleeding is related to menopause.
For peace of mind, you can consult an Oncologist to view your CT and do an assessment; no harm in that. I see nothing wrong with getting several opinions.
I don't think you are being paranoid; you have just had alot of medical issues and when there is a "hint" of anything going wrong you want it investigated.
Regardless whether you go to an Oncologist or not you still should be closely monitored.
so....the radiologist told my gastro dr to have it checked again in 6 months if i was worried about it. otherwise, he didn't feel there was anything to worry about. today i started bleeding. i have finished with menopause and have not had a period for more than 3 years. i has a couple of days of bleeding just before i had my brain surgery on 11/23/09 and they did a cervical biopsy that came back clean. my body is SCREAMING that something is wrong and i don't know who to turn to!!! should i just try and make an appt. with an oncologist and take my cat scan with me? am i being peronoid? i mean really....the radiologist noted retroperitoneal adenopathy in the abdomen and now i am bleeding close to 4 years after menopause. this seems like it could be something i shouldn't "wait and see" on. doesn't it???
Yeah again, that is GREAT news.
Yes, the Bullous Disease is totally related to smoking.
I hope the rest will clear ok or at least be manageable.
Keep us posted.
the biopsy of the esophagus came back negative. YEAH! my dr. wants to talk to the radiologist before he comments on the retroperitoneal adenopathy, so don't know anymore on that. sent me back to the ent for the cyst...go there on the 20th. the bullous disease is emphazima from smoking. never thought it would get me this early in life!! that's what i get for playing the odds, i guess.
Yes, all the best to you!!! :)
35 yrs of smoking. today, i quit. wish me luck!
Depending on this esophageal biopsy combined with the US positive for retroperitoneal adenopathy, you might be seeing a Oncologist; have to wait on the biopsy results.
The retroperitoneal space is the anatomical space in the abdominal cavity behind the peritoneum (the lining of the abdominal cavity).
Adenopathy is the swelling of the lymph nodes/glands.
The area detected by the US must be in the region of /near the esophagus; that was the reason for the upper GI endoscopy/esophageal biopsy.
History of smoking and/or alcohol drinking?
Can't say it is cancer just yet.
i've tried to find info on this on the internet, but really haven't been able to find much of anything at all. do you know exactly what ra is? and please be honest and don't mince words. i'm a realist and feel more empowered when i know what things are. i feel extremely week and helpless when i don't. thanks!
should i be trying to make an appt. with a different kind of dr? an oncologist or something? the biopsy came from the esophogus. the retroperitoneal adenopathy was see by ct scan in the abdoman...there was no biopsy done there.
Ok, he did an upper GI endoscopy then. I would be the most concerned about the retroperitoneal adenopathy. Be concerned, but don't freak out just yet; wait to see what pathology says about the biopsy he obtained.
don't know...just an endoscopy. they put me to sleep and went in with the camera. that's all i know. didn't know there were different types! yes. he gave me pictures of the area he biopsied...looked red and leathery. it was on my esophogus. i was more worried about the other stuff, as the dr. didn't seem overly concerned about what he saw in there...
What kind of endoscopy and what was biopsied?
