understanding significance

I have a hypoechoic complex ovarian cyst with slight peripheral blood flow. I was under the impression that if it is vascular it is not a good sign. I a waiting to have a repeat ultrasound. I was also under the impression that an endometrial biopsy was not an option if you have had an ablation. Is that wrong?

Hi,

An ovarian cyst which is fed by the vascular system can grow to a large size because of ample blood supply and can put pressure on the neighbouring organs and cause symptoms. If you are less than 50 with no family history of ovarian cancer, breast, colon or prostate cancer, I suggest you can be reassured that your chances of cancer are very less. Good luck and please keep me posted.

Thank you for responding. I initially had an ultrasound done to eval. my fibroid issues/pelvic and back pain-even my tailbone. The report back was enlarged uterus equiv. to 5 mo. pregnancy with at least 5 fibroids with the largest having grown since last eval. The endometrial stripe is is to thick for that time frame in my cycle and even more so as I had an ablation 3yrs. ago. Also, the cyst as above on the left. I question the bx as I thought it couldn't be done after an ablation- but had an unsuccessful attempt for the bx in the office. The nurse mentioned a possible D&C? I don't get it. My only rationalization was to determine my surgical options, tvh vs tah, but the ovary thing scares me a bit. Is the blood flow thing bad? I researched s&s some on the internet but that scares me even more. I fit the poster child for Ca ... i quit looking. I have another ultrasound next week and finally get to see the gyn dr. in 2 weeks to discuss ?????

Hi,

Complex ovarian cysts are not very common but they are painful. The only way to diagnose if there is cancer or not is during laparoscopic surgery. Complex ovarian cyst often rupture so it is advised to get surgery done at the earliest.
Why do you want to get an endometrial biopsy done? Please elaborate.
