104temp and sudden acute blindness

Please help.  Today my cat was appearing lethargic and was not acting himself.  I took him to the Vet to find out that he was running a temp of 104 and appeared to have acute blindness.  He is 4yrs old and has always been healthy.  He is an indoor/outdoor cat.  What could have caused this?  The Vet is running bloodwork and I should know more tomorrow.  I'm just so sick over this.  My kids are devastated.

So sorry on the loss of your beloved lil cat. You have my sympathies. I've not lost a cat like this to feline aids, so I'm sorry I can't help you with that. Maybe someone will come along and be able to help you.....

This is a follow up.  We had to put our precious little guy down on 8/17/07.  Our family has lost such a wonderful pet.  The Vets were stumped by whatever happened to our pet.  He was at the Vet hospital for a week and we took him home with meds for another week.  He was afraid and couldn't seem to go up the stairs without encouragement.  His sight came back but not his appetite.  He lost a little over 2 pounds and the Vet reccommended that if we couldn't do further research and tests that we put him down.  He was wasting away to nothing.  A friend of mine also lost a young cat to feline aids.  Has anyone else had to experience this?
