Athlete's Foot and Ring Worm?

I recently adopted a 5 month old feral kitten.  She was in foster care under the Humane Society for two months leading up to her adoption by me.  My boyfriend recently developed Athelte's Foot and thinks it is from the kitten.  The kitten does not have any patches of exposed skin or abnormal scratching going on.  Is it possible for a kitten/cat without any ring worm symptoms to carry it and pass it on to humans?

Athlete's Foot and Ring Worms are not linked, never have been, never will be. Your husband may want to get a foot cream for that. Lotrimin AF is an antifungal. You may want to give it a try.
My father uses a powder. Yes, he has that. I can't recall the exact brand, but it sure does eliminate odor and also acts as antifungal only for as long as he is on that treatment. It's cheap, so I guess it works while he's putting it on his feet and it also saves money. Any over the counter product will work.
One thing is for sure; the cat did not cause it.  :)

Athlete’s foot is caused by the same family of fungus as ringworm (not “ring worms”, there is not worm in ringworm).

Nope!

It's not real possible even if the kitten showed symptoms of ringworm, unless your boyfriend was in very close contact, like sleeping with it every night and cuddling a lot.  Even then it would most likely show up on his body near where the kitten was, it wouldn't show up on his feet!

However, if the kitten shows no sign (scratching, scabs, missing fur), then it doesn't have ringworm and there is not chance of passing it on.

A tube of athlete's foot cream from the grocery store should knock your boyfriend's foot problem right out.  And he should look into how to care for his feet, in order to prevent it from reoccurring.

And GOOD FOR YOU for adopting the kitty!  I love to hear that!! :)

We are here for you.  Any concerns or questions that you have, just come on back, ok?

Enjoy your new friend.
