Well, but that is the point. Salmonella lives all around us, and though safe handling practices can go much of the way, when you have billions of pound of food produced, and billions of pets, the chance of a major outbreak increases, even as the overall number of them may decrease.
One thing that is unclear though -- cats and especially dogs have a very different tolerance for contaminants like Salmonella. How should those differences be reflected in food standards?
supposedly this salmonella was from the spraying of a chemical for 'flavoring' darn scary what we put into our bodies and theirs too.
Many of these issues could be solved if they approved irradiation for pet food (and for certain kinds of human food as well). Pet food would store better, as well.
Thanks for posting this, Opus. It was in our paper yesterday.

there is an area to click on the site to keep getting updates of all recalls, human too.
Oh as soon as I saw this post I clicked on it and pasted the link on the address bar. I am feeding my kitties prescription food combined with Royal Canin for sensitive tummies. I’m so glad this food wasn’t recalled. With my luck……LOL
Always good to have this sort of info posted.
Thanks!!!
Luckily, we do not feed our critters any of the affected brands.
