Cat Side Effects...?

I have a 10 year old male cat who I just got back from my vet clinic.  He had dental surgery done and they gave him Convenia without explaining the risks and or side effects to me, nor giving me an alternative for him.  Anyways, he is now having small episodes of his head twitching / shaking.  I called my vet doctor, they said to keep an eye on him and to bring him in after 5 days, if he's still having these symptoms.  But I am concerned now! He was perfectly healthy before his dental surgery.  And if it is somthing serious, I don't want to wait until it maybe too late.  If I absolutely need to, I will take him into the animal emergency clinic.  He is eating like crazy, he is very affectionate, he has not been going to the bathroom yet, and the vet clinic explained to me that they gave him tons of fluids before and after his dental surgery, which is one of the reasons why he is not drinking as much water right now.  I have noticed, he's been sleeping behind a chair in the corner alot, almost like he's hiding.  And he also looks like he is just ever so slightly limping when he walks around.  What is going on with him??!! Please help!  Thx

thx for the update...so glad Moe is coming along, no more twitches....I am also thinking this could have been caused by pain..since dental work is painful procedure, did the clinic give him any pain meds?
Many clinics don't unless we ask....I have since found out since my Sami's dental extractions that he should have been on a med called BUPRENEX following dentals, this med is the safest for use in cats and effective for dental pain, so if you do end up having to take him to a different clinic and they suspect pain ask for that med.
wishing little Moe all the best to continue recovering quickly and totally..♥

Thank you so much for the reply & help on this matter. I have been keeping a close eye on Moe & today he seemed to be doing much better. He started drinking more water today & has been using his litter box again. He has even been alot more sociable. Every now & then, I see his eyes squint, but that could be do to his poor sore teeth after dental work. However, I have not seen him shaking his head or twitching today, thank goodness! I will continue to monitor him closely for the next 2 days. If he even has the slightest shakeyness I am bringing him into a different vet clinic. I am upset at the cat clinic I took him to & am transferring all his vet records else where. Thanx again for the quick response to my question!

oh man this makes me sooo angry I could spit when a Vet does this without discussion with the pet parent.....poor baby, yes he is very likely having side effects....ie: tremors/ataxia/seizures..common.
trouble is this is a long lasting drug in the system takes weeks to clear, and as far as I know there is NO antidote when there is a reaction..
call your Vet again and explain what you've learned (read all the link I am sending you)...ask if there is any antidote...really don't think so.
I am hoping this will eventually all clear his system he will be ok....

as you will read further down the article.
"convenia is not the proper antib targeted toward the bacterial species that normally live in the oral cavity"....therefore should not be used wiht a dental procedure why is it we can find out this and a Vet isn't aware????? man I am so angry.

good luck to little Moe, sending our prayers, please keep us updated on his condition...♥
