Cat loss of bowels, excessive panting

My cat has done this four times now, and it has scared the daylights out of us every time.

She loses control of her bladder and bowels, and either crawls inot a corner, or lays down right there and seems to go inot a daze.  She starts panting and breathing INCREDIBLY fast, to the point that her stomach looks like it's vibrating.  I am always afraid she will have a heart attack.  SHe is responsive to her name -- she leaves her head down but her ear twitches. She'll look around (at the other cat, who usually comes to sit by her.  So sweet.)

Just as we decide it's time ot go to the vet (5-10 minutes), she starts to come out of it.  She starts to look around, perk up.  Within 20 minutes she's fine, up and walking around.  She eats and uses the litter box normally, but is usually lethargic for a day or so.

She doesn't have any twitching and she's pretty responsive so it doesn't seem like a seizure, but who knows.  Has she really gotten inot something toxic 4 times and had identical reactions?  Besides these episodes, he only other time she has had any weird behavior was once, she was running around frantic, slamming into things and howling with foam coming out her mouth.   It was over within 5-10 minutes, and we thought she must have eaten a spider or gotten her mouth bitten.

What could be going on here?

How scary for you all.  That doesn't sound like something to mess around with. I think even if she isn't exhibiting symptoms at the vet, with your description and maybe a few tests I'm sure the vet can figure it out.  I wouldn't wait any longer.
Best of luck!

It could be a few things, and a neurological issue is a possibility. Seizures don't always come along with these things. It could be spinal, parasitical related...there's a number of things. You'll have to take kitty to a vet for a full check up as most of these illnesses are progressive , but treatment can cure or slow the cause.
