Pip! I said a 'minimum of THREE'! I bet even the Girls don't know who they are!! LOL
Seriously though, that is all very dear, I love all the nicknames and will try hard to keep them straight. Jade just has one from me...I call her Cutie more than her name, but for some reason she responds the best when I say 'kitty kitty'...because she is older I suppose and has had several owners. Vet guessed by her teeth she was 8 or 9yrs in 2006, while the info I had from the owner put her more at 4, 5 or 6yrs (owner wasn't sure how long they'd had her. Imagine!!) We will have her 7yrs on April24th, so she could be as old as 16 for all I know, but man, I hope not!
yes love the nicknames....they just seem to fit after awhile don't they...
Nemo gets called BUBBY or just Bubs...seems to fit him..lol
while Sami is just Sam or big brown kitty....lol...
My Opus got the handle 'little general' while he was alive, he just ruled the roost here and it fitted him....:))
Teia is also called Buddy.
Chessie is also called Boo Bear.
Okay :)
Official list...from now on.
Miss Teia Honey - Teia, Missy T or Tessie
Hildiekatt Halfshadow the Harrier - Hildie, Boofus, Monkey Baby or Hissie
Chesapeake Bandy Legs the Hunter - Chessie, Bear or Bearby
Haha, that's what I figured, I was just teasing.
And instead of *at least*, it should of read *a minimum of* :)
I guess i"m starting to conflate Miss Teia a little with Kestrel (Kessie) who had such a calm persona.
I remember when Chessie went missing. You were understandably panicked. I'm with you and think once you guys are settled for good, everyone will find their own space.
"Miss Tessie"...good grief, you get me so confused. You simply Must stick to at least THREE nicknames for each girl! lol
The growth was removed last July, and in August I had to leave her overnight with the vet to get her blood work done; had to be mildly sedated as she was not at all pleased by the tumor removal process.
She seemed to recover from these okay.
Her personality has been a little more reserved for a couple of years.
2 summers ago (2011) Chessie was left out by Anita when she was letting her, Kessie and Hildie out on the front lawn to chew grass and enjoy the breeze & sunshine.
Anita was still in her healing time from the PTSD and had occasional lapses...really thought Chessie was in the house. Chessie had been out 3 hours by the time I got home from work.
We wandered the neighborhood for over an hour...I did not sleep well and got up at 3 AM, sat outside on the deck calling her name softly.
I went in to check something and saw a flash of gray outside the patio door, took me another 20 minutes to coax her inside.
Chessie was out for about 15 hours, and I think the experience really scared her. Then the medical procedures, then the move...
I'm glad she is moving back towards her old, more confident self.
Before I went to work this morning, Chessie was down on the 1st landing (2 steps above the kitchen floor). Miss Teia came in and sat down to look at her from about 8 feet away. They just looked at each other, Chessie gave a soft, pro forma hiss to which Miss Tessie replied by blinking. After a few minutes, Miss Chessie went back upstairs.
We hear her chasing her toy around upstairs and she always purrs when I spend time with her. So, I'm hoping once we are again in a full size house the emotional situation will stabilize as all the girls will have a larger territory.
Hey Pip...I wonder if Chessie is coming around more because she is feeling more stable? With her ear blocked with that growth, I bet she couldn't hear well making her feel anxious. Also, when we have ear issues, we might feel dizzy, spaced out, etc., you know? Was it prior to the last 2wks, the growth was removed?
This is wonderful news, I'm so glad she is becoming more comfortable. She is beautiful...and a punkinhead, haha. Jade, Akira and Chessie all have that round, adorable punkinhead look. :)
Miss Chessie sleeps by my side every night, buzzes up a storm when he get ear scritches. THAT is a nice change from early last year when she had ear trouble.
Doc Knilans removed a benign growth (about the size of a grape) from inside her right ear canal, we thought it was ear mites at first from the black gunk, but none of the other girls showed signs. A bit of probing, pluck the grape, some styptic powder, a little healing time...good as new.
Chessie is a lovely lady Pip..deserves some air play too for sure, its just taking her a bit more time to feel comfortable..but she's coming around.
