Dislocated/broken jaw?

My cat has been eating awkwardly. I just noticed this yesterday. When she eats she only chews some of the food. The rest she just swallows. She can open her mouth all the way like yawning, but seems not to bother her. I was wondering could this be a jaw problem. If so would it be a fracture or a dislocation?

not sure abt the gulp but could well be....most cats especially after  5 or 6 need a dental cleaning and check up annually to prevent gingivitas, unfortunately if its FORLs than nothing can be done to prevent that one.....I hope you have her on can food if there is dental pain dry food is so painful to chew....good luck but please see that she gets a check up ok, I can tell you love her and are concerned for her :)

1 more thing. i have also noticed that when she swallows like swallowing her siliva, it sounds like a gulp, and what are some signs to tell if she is feeling pain? she is also a farmcat, so i dont know when the last time she was checked? i would have to say she was checked when we got her delcawed about 6 years ago?

of course dental problems can develop quickly just like ours.....there is also a condition called FORL's which only show up with xrays, I have a cat wiht this and they are very painful.
sounds like classic signs of a something with the teeth with the rubbing/pawing for sure.
heres a link to what I posted abt my kitty on FORLS....if I were you I'd get her in for a dental check asap...whens the last time she had a cleaning or xrays??

well, she is about 11 years old and never had dental problems before, i just noticed about 3 days now. so could gingivitis develop that quickly? or could this just be a loose tooth? also she still keeps opening her mouth to full extent, like yawning. i also noticed that he keeps rubbing her jaw on one side like something is bothering her.

this is more than likely a dental problem....have you had her teeth checked? you know how painful a tooth/nerve ache can be and kitties suffer from this very very commonly.....look at her teeth, is there a line of redness where the gum meets the base of the tooth? this is called gingivitis and it is painful, untreated it will lead to many other health problems like heart disease/kidney disease...please take this kitty into a Vet and have her examined....♥
