Health Insurance for your Pets?

Oh I know  you think I am nuts, right? Well let me tell you i you can afford this quarterly billing you will be a very happy camper. I have  PetPlan out of Philadelphia and it has been a God Send.

Best to get it as soon as you get your cat and have it checked by a vet. Pre-existing conditions are taken into consideration, so my cats herpes and stomatitis will not be covered. She has asthma, had a broken tail, bronchitis, heart MRI, 3 chest x-rays  all costing thousands of dollars over 3 years, at least $4000---ALL covered 100% by this insurance . It costs me about $450 a year billed quarterly and is worth every penny.

We all love our animals and my heart breaks when an accident happens and the family has worry as to how to pay for their pet. Vets are expensive....so IF you can afford to get  insurance when your cat is young and healthy it will cost less and take the worry out of medical care.

There are many insurance companies out there, perhaps their is the perfect one for you.
Just putting this out there to help offset the expense of emergency care our animals will need at some point in their lives.

Thanks for your consideration,
Clare

Hi Angiesmom,

My Insurance is called PetPlan. Go to www.GoPetplan.com.  This should give you all the info you need. Not sure mine is better.......just hoping people will chime in with their opinions and if they have some great insurance company will give us some info on it.

Just a note: PetPlan does not cover pre-existing conditions either. I have the Platinum Plan which you pay first $75. and everything else is 100% on new diagnoses. Most Vets are great and will work with you on how things are billed out to make sure you get it covered.

Mine does not include normal check-ups---which is no problem, since my cat has been in for so many other things we always know where she stands health wise.

As soon as I adopt my babies, I call the insurance company and enroll them.  Both girls with full coverage including wellness checks is 22.00 a month each.  They will be covered until they are 10 and then I think the cost goes up a bit, maybe 5 dollars a month each.  They were covered from the first day with accidents and then I had to wait 30 days for other coverage like vet visits.  It is well worth it.  Sophia fell 2 days after I enrolled her in the plan, she fell off the back of the couch and broke her little paw and she was covered 100 per cent...Great post, its not something we always think about until after an accident or procedure is needed.

Great post, CM. I wish every day we would of followed through and applied for insurance for Jade.  We have easily spent $10,000 on her, if not more.

Hi Clare,

Your insurance sounds better that mine- mine doesn't cover preexisting conditions and it doesn't cover 100%. Which insurance do you have? I'm looking for a better one for Wizard who is fiv +. I can only get him basic coverage on the plans I have looked at and on ours.
