Iodine treatment for my cat

Yesterday my vet told me that my cat had a thyroid nodule and to cure him of this he can have an iodine treatment. This is similar to humans when they finish getting their thyroid taken out. He will be in the hospital 5-7 days. Will this cure or killl him? She said his blood work was through the roof for thyroid. Am I doing the right thing? He is 12

well, she is a new vet and seems reliable, but I was hoping other people had their cat go through this so I know what to expect

Hi, so sorry kitty is sick. I'm afraid I don't know anything about thyroid, however, I must ask you, do you not trust your vet enough to ask the question you've asked here? I would think this would be a very normal and responsible question.
