Everything is getting better, lozzy. Just don't let the cat out. The vet doesn't think it's ringworm after all. The hair loss is caused by rough playing. The skin is healthy, and the hair is growing back. Abby, my older, does have ringworm. Dillan, I guess has a stronger immune system. I am treating them both, but Abby has the worse case of ringworm. It is clearing up though. I am bathing them with a medicated shampoo and putting Lamisil on and it's been working out so far.
Take care of your cat and do not let her out ever!!! I learned my lesson!!!!
Oh my god how's it been did the shampoo work and are you better. i hope everything's ok my cat has never had ringworm and after reading this i hope she never does lol
Oh Sara,
I am paranoid. I know I shouldn't be; but it's all pretty disgusting, if you ask me. I took them to the vet, and I got the medicated shampoo. So, I have that, Tresaderm, and Lamisil. I am sleepy, so I am going to slep now. I got an entire place to clean when I wake up!!! Yuck!
Come help me!!! I'll get you the plane ticket, first class!!!!!
Do i need to come over there and take care of this!!!!
I think I'll leave them at the vet until they're completely cured. Should I? Poor babies just want to be around me. They give me the 'I'm confused' look when I tell them to get out of the room. Gosh, I haven't been able to bond with Dillan!!! Gosh this is worse than the time I spent an entire day getting mosquito bites at my cousin's house. I'm itching all over!!!!!!!!!! Oh my god I shouldn’t have looked!!!
Yuck! I am up and it is so early. I was petting Abby, who came to the bed at 4:30 am being all needy, as usual, when I found ringworm, like, the real thing! Oh My God I am so disgusted right now!!!! I just want to get the heck outta the house. I put some Lamisil but I am definitely taking them to the vet today. The vet said she'd brush them entirely and collect that hair and put it in the yellow substance which should change color if they have ringworm. The only problem is.....I have to wait 10 days, and there is no way possible for me to wait that long. I am buying the shampoo today!!! If ya'll seen this thing!!! uugghhh.......yuck!!!! shoosh......
I would bet it is ringworm. It is very contagious!!!!
Well, be warned-try your hardest not to scratch or it'll become infected like mine did. I had over 30 of them on EACH arm, and it turned into cellulitis. I guess that was a secondary bacterial infection that needed antibiotics and that fungal cream.
That boo boo on Abby's ear might be a ringworm, too. There can be pus involved with it.
Thanks April. Hopefully, none of them have ringworm; but if I have it.....it must be Dillan who gave it to me and my husband. How do you explain all of that missing hair? So far, Abby hasn't shown signs of it. Abby has puss comig out of a wound, a bite, in one ear, it's sore, red, and bumpy. I am putting triple antibiotic which also has pain reliever. He doesn't take it off. He lets me put that on so he knows I am curing him. I am also putting antifungal cream on both of my cats (the ears) If the vet gives me that shampoo for ringworm, I'll bathe them as soon as I get home tomorrow from the vet.
I was diagnosed with it. I went to the doctor's office last week. I have never had this before so I wasn't sure what to think of it, so I went to the doctor. I am working to get rid of this fungus. This is what you get when you adopt a cat from the shelter (you, your husband and your other cat get sick); but I don't regret it. I'm happy I was able to get him outta there when I did, and give him a good home and good food (ugh, the stuff he was eating at the shelter was grossing me out, yuck). It is all worth it, if you ask me. It was a good rescue. I found out today (the lady who works at the front desk at the vet's told me) that all the animals that come from the county shelter have ringworm and URI, which is pretty common; but it's all a pain in the butt. So far, it's getting better and it isn't so itchy as it was 3 days ago. I have it in 4 places (face, shoulder and two in my right arm) My boss doesn't want me there LOL
Oh yeah, I saw it on both pictures. He definitely has missing hair around his neck and ears. Something is up, that's for sure. I don't know if it's ringworm or something else. I hope you find out soon and that it's easy to treat!
Good memory! Yes, my poor Oreo had ringworm, that my A$$ gave to HIM. You gotta watch those tanning beds. Clean them yourself, and don't trust them to do it.
So, you think both you and hubby have it, too? Do NOT let it get as bad as mine was. Get it treated ASAP. You will have to scrub and wash the HE!! out of everything. That will really S U C K!!
Why are you on sick leave?
Oh, and the line of missing hair showed up before declawing him. I remember now.
I'm on sick leave right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I think Dillan gave it to both me and my husband. Maybe he is a carrier!! Lucky me!!!
I am taking him to the vet tomorrow. They already know what's going on and I'm taking both of them to the vet at 11:00 am. He is declawed so it might have been the anesthesia; however.............I have reasons to believe he has ringworms. Your cat Oreo had ringworms once, right? Yeah, something similar is happening....
Glad you were able to see the picture. I was starting to think I may be useful as engineer but as photographer.......I am a disaster!!!!! and, well, I can't paint, or draw, or sketch...........etc etc.....
Well, I just did an image search on ringworm, and Dillan might have it on his ear. I had ringworm from a tanning bed before, and MINE were all scabbed and infected. I don't think there's scabs if there's no infection. Standard ringworm does not have scabs. Guess I was lucky! LOL
This is a better pic!!!! I honestly don't think it's ring worm. I really, really don't. Do an image search on yahoo, and you'll see what I mean. But, you're right-something is definitely up with the missing hair. I'd ask your vet what's up with the missing hair. It wasn't like that when you brought him there. I'd go ahead and call them.
I've heard that anesthesia can cause hair loss in people, not sure if it happens with kittys! I guess it's possible. If you call, let me know what the vet says. I am with ya, I think it's strange, too!
