For sure I will pray for Jade today and tomorrow.
All cat friends and even the ones i dont know yet are on my daily prayers but this time I will send a special prayer for her/you
She will be fine, good luck about no extractions and alla the rest
Big hug!
Oh hon you know you both have our prayers too....any anesthesia is always a worry esp when they are getting a little older, but not cleaning up the gingivitis can cause many health problems too...so kinda have too. I hope she gets to keep all her teeth, but kitties can make out fine with a few removed, my boys have some gone.
all our best and Linda's kitty hug, I love it. ((>^.^<)) ♥
Apple/Opus...thanks you guys. I'm trying not to worry. I just picked up some Frontline for Jade and we were going to apply it today, but I thought it better to hold off a few days since she will lick it no doubt and possibly feel ill. I want her as well as possible. As it is, her bloodwork was months ago and I'm getting her in just under the deadline. Of course, I would love to have current bloodwork to be on the safe side, but dental could go as high as $500 with extractions so can't afford something that's not absolutely necessary.
She had 3 extractions in 09. Her front broken fang was abscessed so that was pulled along with two other infected teeth. She did very well through the surgery and came out of it just fine so I'm trying to hang on to that memory.
Just dropped Jade off and been home for 30seconds. The house is so empty without her and I miss her already.
Oh, Jade....I feel for you. She'll come through with flying colors. Try not to worry....you know she's in good hands. When do you get to pick her up? This afternoon?
I completely understand you missing your girl...
Even having 3 cats I felt/feel the same without Loreena's here Look at the kids without her here only gave me wish of crying
Even the days she was just out for some hours
Hope Jade return home safe and sound soon
Btw, Lolo is outside today - and for my surprise she didnt run as a crazy when I opened the door!
Not sure if I will have courage to let her walk at night but til 5PM she can have some fun
Medicine is over, problems so - I do hope.Poo is good,I loved that Amoxilina ( I still remember her issues with another antibiotic)
Yes, after 4pm. The cleaning only takes about 30mins, but they keep her to monitor her which is fine by me. They'll call with an update when she comes out of the anesthesia. And darn it, I meant to take a can of food but forgot so will ask when they call if they'd like me to bring it since office is only half mile away. Thanks, Linda. I know we are in for a herpes flare up at the very least, though. Her shots are due, too, but I declined that for today. From experience, that would be too much stress on her system. I also okayed a urinalysis recheck which jacked the bill up another $100. I just pray she doesn't need any teeth pulled this time.
Oh, that's great Loreena is all done with the meds. It wasn't so bad this time, was it. The Clavamox given here doesn't taste bad, either. It's just getting it down the cat, is the hard part. I am most impressed you do all this medicating by yourself, Apple. I take it you're still taking Loreena out on the leash?
Thanks for your support, honey. REALLY appreciate it!
Nope - she's out of the leash!
Free to climbinhg treess and get a lot of "carrapichos" in her fur
Carrapichos = that kind of stuff I dont remember the name in english - vegetal pocket for seed dispersion that attach to fur or clothes
No problems with those - you can easily take them off later on - and its also a fun for her cleaning herself :-)
She's home and very wobbly, still. Two teeth pulled, poor girl. She'll get her second dose of antib and pain med later tonight. So far, so good, she's still very confused and I won't relax until she shakes off the anesthesia entirely.
aww poor baby, she will be sore for a few days......give her a big hug from me and my boys((♥))
I'm glad she is back home with her mommy....she should be herself again by tomorrow. She probably just needs to sleep it off. ((>^.^<)) kitty hugs to you both and lots of ♥ too
Her dose of antib's last night didn't go well at all. DH went in on the side of her mouth, but we think he didn't hit the plunger slow enough 'cause she began to wheeze, then cough and choke for a good 3mins. We were scared she inhaled it into her lungs. Needless to say, we didn't give her the pain med. She weaved her way back to her *sick* spot where she sleeps between the couch and wall and went right back to sleep so we figured, just leave her.
I woke up at 5am and DH was up with her and had taken her out for potty but she didn't go. She came right to me looking up at me, so she's feeling much better after sleeping all night. I went back to bed, got up at 8 to find her still asleep and a note saying she'd eaten two bowls of food. She's outside now. We'll get the antib in her at lunch and possibly the pain med. We googled last night for a picture (again) of how to hold a cats jaw open when giving meds so hopefully, with that picture in mind, medication time will go smoother.
Thanks for the hugs - I happily passed them on. Jade and I send our love. ((>^..^<))
aww its a struggle isn't it...some good vibes coming your way from us..hope the meds at noon will be more successful, go very slowly with the plunger give he time to swallow between each drop, so she won't aspirate. good sign that she's eating...
((>^,^<)) kitty hugs back to you both.....
Thanks for the good vibes, honey. Noon meds went much smoother with no choking, but looked like almost since DH still did it a little too fast. We got the pain med in her, too, and did that much slower. Besides the two bowls with DH, she ate 3 more helpings when I got up so she's doing real well, thankfully. She's outside on the cement all stretched out in the sun and looking completely and utterly adorable.
Aww....what an ordeal...but our girl is doing well. And DH is definitely a help. God bless all of you....I had no idea exactly what cleaning/extractions involved until I read this.
Diego seems so healthy....haven't had him back to vets in months. Sooner or later I will have to face similar stuff I am sure...boy...so expensive...but as Opus says...teeth problems can lead to major health issues..so we can be glad vets do this now.
I have a pic of her stretched out in sunshine...all better now! Diego has been in airconditioned apt sleeping on his back as usual:).......
I'm sooo glad to come on here and see that Jade is doing well. I'm so happy to hear she came through the ordeal just fine. Time for relaxation and sounds like she is accomplishing that quite nicely. Ahhh...>^.^< ...nice warm sunshine...what could be better than that!
Dh is very good about doing things for Jade. He's wonderful to tell you the truth. Glad to hear Diego has been healthy - that's always a relief.
The pain med made her so funny. She's been awake, or rather, not asleep - just lying on the cement with her head up. I think she feels high, lol. I came out to check on her a few hrs ago and she sloooowly turns her head, eyes at half mast and kinda slurred very slowly "oooow." Drinking water, too, for the first time in ages so maybe is giving her cotton mouth. Dread giving her the meds tonight and might forgo the pain med although I think she feels better with it so we'll see how the antib goes first, then decide from there. She's doing great overall and gave DH lots of lovin's when he was lying on the grass earlier - a good sign.
I think she was jus chillin' in the sun, lol. She's got good parents who love her. What more could she want. She's a lucky kitty.....maybe you should cut her pain meds in half? ((>^.^<))))) whoa, kinda got away with me, lol.
LOL! You're so funny. Biiiiig kitty hugs. Thanks, Linda. We just adore her. She's easy to adore. Giving her half the pain med is a good idea.
Give Miss Jade a big hug from Snickers, and me too!!
I bet she looks pretty spiffy laying in the sun with those pearly whites!!!
Thank you, Sara. Hugs happily accepted.
Unfortunately, Jade is not feeling too spiffy today. I think she's constipated. She didn't want to eat this morning for my husband and when she went outside, she just swished her tail a few minutes looking miserable, then came back in and went to her sick place which is where I found her at 8 when I got up. I tried massaging her tummy which she didn't seem to mind, then she wanted to eat. Seems very lethargic and nothing like she was last night. Would imagine between the anesthesia, antib's and pain meds, she hasn't been able to have a bm. She's very round and bloated it seems. Drinking more water than I've seen in a year. At first I thought it might be her teeth, but she ate just fine. She's outside just huddled on the grass with what looks like no intention of making her way to the garden. We will not give anymore pain meds. Hope we don't have to go to the vet. Maybe I should go buy some Miralax? Any suggestions?
Oh, dear I was so glad with your last posts...
So our poor girl its not feeling fine today... Maybe its just medicine side effect , I do hope situation get better soon.
If I was near maybe I could help you with pills business, but mercifully you have a quite "useful" DH
I dont know if I can manage that so well with someone's cat ,maybe I'm just blessed with a cat as sweet and peaceful as Loreena but I could try
I give those to the others and they are not like her..
Lolo is not hungry today as well, but not letargic, thank goodness.
It seens like our girls have planes of making her mothers crazy
I'm still keeping her inside from 5pm on, I'm seriously considering let her take a night walk today but Im afraid cos today is 13th Friday!
But I know its time for, just didnt do cos she accepted be inside easly easily this 2 last days
Big hug, hon! From me and Mc Cat's family
I'm sure it's the meds, Apple. I forgot about pumpkin and had my husband buy some Miralax. Put about half a tsp on her food. I eyeballed the garden so I could tell where it had been disturbed should she go out there when I wasn't looking and sure enough, I found a fresh bm; however, neighbor cat was on the fence earlier so could of been her, but I think it was Jade. She was curled up in her outside chair after I found it and looking peaceful so I think it was her. She ate just fine too once my husband got home with the Miralax. Vet called and Urinalysis was perfect so that's a load off my mind. Wants another recheck in 3mos.
We're giving her liquid, Apple. It's a little trickier than the pills don't you think? You're offer to help is sweet and appreciated. Jade choked this morning again which doesn't make us feel very confident. That's great, Loreena is so easy. Jade is, too, it's US with the problem. I don't think my husband is doing it right, but he's great about anything that has to do with her and is more than willing to help. I've been telling him to take a deep breath before we start in order to be calm. I am eliminating the pain med - Jade is eating just fine - even the hard food so I don't think she's hurting too badly. I gave it last night more so she would sleep inside since by midnight, she was looking like she wanted to stay outside all night.
I think it's wise of you keeping Loreena in after 5pm. I'm glad she's been willing to stay which makes it easier on you. Thanks again, Apple. Big Hugs back to you, Loreena and the girls!
