thank you opus I will tell my dd what you have said ..it does sound to me as if she hadnt had any food other than mothers milk my dd had not had a cat before and didnt realise it was too young, another question what age do they get their first shots, as of course I only got Tweety when she was an older cat .Do kittens get them around 3-4 months ?
make sure they buy her canned soft foods..and can also add some milk to it for awhile than start tapering back the milk..so she gets used to a more solid food...poor little thing, she possibly hadn't even been given anything other than what mommy could provide and just doesn't know how to eat yet...make sure its canned soft food, the hard kibble besides being unhealthy is also hard for a new baby to chew...♥
Yes she is drinking water and will drink milk ,in UK they give them milk more than we do.My DD said they wre trying to hand feed her and that she had been taking some wet food, I think she wasn't weaned and was taken straight from the Mom .I have got info from the internet and sent the dd a lot of Info ..I want her to take it to the vet and I hope she has done so ..thanks guys
Thank you Annie I will tell her to try the sardines .
Ten-week-old kittens should willingly eat both dry and wet food. It is possible that the kitten is not 10 weeks old, and it is also possible that the kitten has an intestinal obstruction or is ill. Maybe even has a mild respiratory virus and just can't smell the food. To test the last idea, your daughter can try sardines -- not as a diet, they are not good for cats to be fed exclusively -- but just to see if the problem is that the cat can't smell the food. (A cat usually finds the smell of sardines very attractive.) If the cat keeps not eating, a vet visit is called for.
