Don't beat yourself up.  Loreena knows you tried your best.  It isn't easy to see when they don't do well when they're so young, but this happens.  I've seen little ones die shortly after birth and several days later.  It's heart breaking for a cat lover to see, but these things happen.  The little kitten had a warm and safe and loving home to be born into.

I am certain that the rest of the litter will continue to thrive and you'll soon have a house full of little bundles of fur romping and playing with each other.

Loreena knows you did your best and she will continue to trust you.  Dogs and cats both know when we have good intentions towards them.  She will focus her energies on the babies she still has and will likely get over the loss of the little one much quicker than you will.  I've seen that with mother cats.  But, cats are still excellent mothers.

Try not to fret too much.  Loreena will continue to love and trust you.  She knows you want her babies to be healthy and thrive and that you're helping her watch over the little ones.

I was so sorry to read this, AppleBr.  I know you did all you could.  You are a wonderful "kitty mom."  Cream Boy wasn't well and like Opus said, it is natures way.  I know...after a week it is more shocking.  Hope mom and the rest continue to thrive.

Hope You are alright (((Hugs)))♥

don't cry, these things happen in nature for a reason...baby was ill and probably any help for him would't have worked..he had a nice warm home to be born in and love...you are a very loving person...sorry for your loss.
so glad the others are healthy  and mommy too

He died today morning - guess my brain its not working properly today/tonight
I was prepared for them borning death or even dying in  some hours ,days, but a week later was a, I know, concrete possibility I was not thinking about!
There's a "like siamese" more playing on The Rainbow Bridge...

This is my hardest post here til now and it seens like I will have to type it again- my first try, earlier was accidentally deleted by myself cause I was crying.Ok,I'm crying again but...
Deeply sorry to post this; Cream boy died tomorrow morning, after my only try to feed him as the vet had told me.In fact he was a brave, for the way I see him when arrived home it was quite hard keep hopeful and believing,Vet only called me back today morning,it was already late in the night when I contacted her, I not blame her and I'm trying not blame myself either thing was a lot unexpected. We all - Loreena either - did our best, I know She supported him as much ao possible,I tried to do the same.

Dont want add details,I know its painful when you read as well as when you are in.
Lets keep focused on the good things still to come true.As the others growing heathy and so .Vet passed by my home to bring the calcium and vitamines suplement for Loreena, she watched all of them and also said all seens to be fine.Hope they really are, they are eating and sleeping ok -(but the other was doing the same til - forget it,go out dark cloud!)

Furballsmon
What kills me is exactly how much she trust me!! Make me wish doing always more...

You are a good care giver to this kitty family.

Just so you know, if the mother cat feels like one of the kittens is going to fail and die, she will often take measures to end its little life.  I saw one mother cat deliberately smother a kitten that failed to thrive.  This isn't cruel, because she is actually just ending its suffering.  It is far kinder than a life of sickness and suffering.  That mother cat was a feral cat that trusted my family enough to bring her kittens inside of the house.

A different mother cat we had was a sweet little Japanese bobtail that was mostly white and had the orange, brown and caramel calico markings in a few places.  Her first litter was only one little kitten.  My mother had determined that it must've been a male.  Often male calicos fail to thrive for some reason.  He was a soft gray/blue calico.  I tried to help the mother out when it was clear that the little guy might not make it by trying to bottle feed him.  Since he was so tiny, this just didn't help.  He still died by the time he was only two days old.  The mother cat was clearly distressed about it.  She knew there was nothing she could do.  It took her a while before she would go back into my bedroom where the kitten had died.  Later, she got pregnant again and had two kittens.  One was a male and the other one was a female.  Only one of them survived.  Again, it was the male that died.  That mother cat was a very devoted and nurturing mother cat.  In fact, when the other female cat had her litter a week later, the Japanese bobtail took all the other kittens, too.  She wanted to be a mother so badly.

The fact that Loreena is sticking close to the little guy is a hopeful sign.  She is concerned, but she doesn't feel like he is going to die soon.  I have seen mother cats move their living and healthy babies away from a kitten that has died.  Fortunately, these mother cats were our family pets and they had their families inside of the house, so they didn't move their families all that far from the original spot.  Apparently, this is what they would do in the wild as well.  Clearly, their instincts are to safeguard the family as a whole.

Try not to panic.  Keep an eye on the little guy and see how Loreena is with him.  And, see what the vet says.  Cats are really great mothers.  Pet cats are pretty good about trusting their humans they have come to form a strong bond with and will often allow their humans to gently touch the babies almost right away.  We always left the kittens with the mother, pet the mother and gently rubbed one finger on the backs of the tiny kittens while the mother was right there with her litter of kittens.  That will happen when the cat knows she can trust her humans.

Cream colour boy is a lot quiet today, I'm worried about. He's the oldest one.Guess Loreena is worried either, she didnt bothered me to go outside today, just stay there and hug then all .Its true that its a rainy day and this can be a good motivation for, but I feel he's not as active as his brothers and sisters they way he used to be.Send a sms msg for the vet, just to keep her informed
Didnt see him sucking, but maybe he was just faster and did when I was not watching .Hope its not something serious,I dont know what I should do if he die...
Do the mother wont hate me if she see me taking him away - if the worse happen?
Please keep praying for I'm beeing just a little paranoic the way sometimes I am and they all reach one week age.

Sex
Black ones are girls - one will be for the friend I already mentioned, the other I 'm strongly wishing keep to my myself if I got the vet to do do her castration as Christmas gift ,for the price I would pay for Loreena's one.
All the others are boys - all according to my cousin. If the white ones were like the supposed father, I will strongly suggest the new owner to have then neutered pretty soon, cause that one has a face of "Great Lover producer of millions!"

Oh, yes, it's hard to part with little kittens.  But, it's not possible to keep them all.  But, think of how wonderful it is that you know they're going to loving homes where people really want them and will take very good care of them.  It's hard not to get attached to these wonderful little creatures.

Apple...you are just too cute! :)  What a wonderful kitty mom you are!  I remember it was always hard to let them go though.  You have to sort of harden your heart and not get too attached...which is hard lol.

Oh no no.. not eleven KITTENS at once, eleven LITTERS of kittens over a span of eleven years approx.  Our poor kitty was pregnant all the time.  Terrible, really, but my parents always did find homes for the kittens.  We ended up keeping one beautiful calico kitten who ended up living 21yrs and passing away when I was 30.

Thank you all I will try keep posting details and news later on.
Kittens are in born order ( first to last) cream, white, white, black, black( they're born almost at the same time!) white.Dont know about sex yet.my cousin will tell me.
Family is fine.I just cannot call Loreena my Gorducha or Barriguda anymore( words in portuguese for "fat one " and "the one with big belly) Now she will be Magrelinha ( caring diminutive for thin)
Better not think about the future when the kids leave the box...
One have home since I was informed about, and even knowing will be quite hard let then go when reaching that lovely and playful period.I'm working hard in producing an efficient poster to get great owners
Was me in USA and all the "envy " people here would receive a cute and lovely Meowing Christmas gift  :-)

11 KITTENS? I would be traumatized if that had happened in our (mine and her) first and last time... Specially not living in a place like USA where people are more fond of cats than here.

if there is a wal mart close to you they carry mothers milk (a supplement for kittens and there's one for puppies) you can give that to loreena to help with the nutrients she needs. we always gave our pregnant and nursing cats that and it seemed to help them out a LOT when they were nursing.

Congratulations to you and Loreena's new family!  How exciting!  I haven't seen newborn kittens since *I* was a kitten LOL.  We had a stray cat come to us when I was real young and this cat ended up having 11(eleven) litters of kittens so I saw a lot of kittens when I was young.   This was in the 60's, early 70's...way before people knew how important it is to spay/neuter.

How is the new family doing today? :)

Why am I aloways the last to know. What great news. You will have a variety of colors to keep up with. By the way What was the coloring of the last one. If it was black, it gives you an even split of three cream/white and three black. I am so happy for you. What an exciting experience for you and for Loreena. keep us posted with their progress.

Sounds like mommy cat and babies are going to do fine.  Awesome!  Newborn kittens are so cute, too.  I remember watching mommy cats and their kittens.  It's so cute watching them tumble over each other when they're old enough to play together.

Thanks,I just bought a better food for her hope it helps.
My fist and biggest fear has she having no milk at all for the first hours cos I had checked the 2 closest vet drugstores and pet shops and they had only milk for dogs.Anyway, I was/are too much expensive for my budget.Hope my girl be good "milk cow"
Taking a shower now its an exercice of war strategy - tried one for the first time, I didnt have courage to bother the soo tired family at the first day:
removing  cats stuff, removing box of babies, thankfully I didnt have to convince her ...
Closing all doors except bath one to keep an eye on her outside
And forgeting the towels, soap and other need things that had been removed from the place for safety issues.Well, guess I will have a looong time to get used to
Well ,six babies plus Mom Cat = seven. A magical number,so they say!
Maybe it means they will be specially blessed :-)

"ONLY" 6 - all healthy I guess.
Were 5 by the moment I posted, when I came back home, she looked seriously at me, said Meow! - and delivered once more!! Previous also had been after I return home from the supermarket... It means I watched all of then coming and thankfuly was a peaceful moment (probably I wont have another so soon...:-) )

I completely agree will be a hard  work for we both.Especially because I cant leave home as much as i used to do and it makes harder even producer promotional poster and "marketing" for getting steparents or other kinds of help
She is very kind and caring with the babies but is already missing her life outside, poor one.Today I allowed her leaving 2 times already but its not safe without me watching there's a building pretty close where she used to go, I'm also cannot let doors and windows open for her use - cats doors are not common in Brazil.
Anyway things are going fine by now. Today theres no risk of met new ones waiting for me - so think I !
See you!
