It CAN change, especially if your Kids fall in love with a Kitten ;-)
My Dad always hated Cats, was always a Dog man, & as he was military he wasn't around so much when we were small, only later after he retired.............
Mum was scared of Dogs, but loved Cats having grown up with them herself, we also had farm cats around as Kids, so sort of adopted those, but after moving to live with Dad when he retired from the Army, no more Cats.........that was until it was my birthday, & I could think of nothing else other than how much I missed Cats..........insisted on nothing else, covered my wall in cat pictures & when asked what I wanted for my birthday, showed a card of a sweet little Chinchilla Kitten, & would mention nothing else at all...............thanks to Mum, (& though he agreed, much to Dads disgust) I got that kitten for my birthday :)
the rest is history...........I grew up, left home, & My Dad was won over by that Cat forever & now would never be without their Cats.............they've had several over the years, but his big love now is their Bengal & Abysinian............get him on the phone, & he talks of little else :)
You need to be subtle, but get your kids onside ;-)
Yep for the 3rd time we just found out its a boy so very happy :-D

Hi chuggy and welcome to our cat forum! That's so sad your wife won't give an inch on this one. My neighbor loves dogs - Goldens to be exact. His wife hates animals, but is giving in to a new dog since she loves her husband. Wife is also afraid of our sweet little cat, Jade. I can't understand it.
No way around it, huh? Even if you were entirely responsible? I grew up with cats too and can't imagine not having one. Like you, I love cats, we all do here, obviously, lol...
My husband doesn't hate cats....but he does tolerate all of mine because he loves me and he know how much they all mean to me. I would think there could be some compromise between the two of you that would allow one kitty since it would mean so much to you. ;)
