I agree with everyone else- If it is something new or yucky-ish, have him checked out.
I have a cat who has always had goopy eyes. His aren't from infection or anything, it's just there- like when humans get stuff. We call them his "eye boogies". Yea- I know I'm tacky, but they're gross at times.
thank you for your advice, I am so glad I found this site! Everyone is so awesome!
I absolutely agree with the above comments. It is possibly an upper respitory infection or even herpes. Herpes will cause a cats eyes to run. Yes, some cats eyes just run, but from the sounds of your post, this is something new and unusual for Max.
Really, the only way to know for sure is to take Max to the vet. If it's an infection, he will likely be put on Clavamox which is a common antibiotic for cats and not very expensive.
Good luck!
I agree with Opus...have a vet check it out...
a home remedy (after you've taken kitty to vet) is to take chamomile tea bag...let it steep in water...take that water and wipe the eyes with it. supposedly it helps when nothing else does. I will tell you that I have tried this and have seen no improvement...in my kitty's case, her eyes just leak...
the eyes leaking could be a cold or infection
ahhh sorry to hear of Max's problems...sir he most likely has an infection and does need to be seen by a vet.
There are no home remedies that I know of...maybe someone else will be able to give you more help, but I think a vet would be the best for kitty.
let us know how you make out please.
