My cat vomits and falls over, but seems fine?

My cat is long haired and occassionally vomits hairballs. She does like to eat plastic, so I keep all bags and stuff away from her. Sometimes I find that she vomits after I give her too much cat treats. However, a while ago I was alarmed to see her drop to the floor on her side after she threw up. She got up and acted fine and for weeks now has seemed perfectly happy and healthy. Until tonight, she did the same thing. When she was vomiting, she seemed to be wretching badly, seemed like it was taking her awhile to vommit, so it didn't seem like enough oxygen was getting through, and she fell over on her side again. But then has been acting fine and healthy again. Should I be concerned?

i have a plastic eating cat as well, but hasn't shown any of this behavior. when he ate some tape off a fruit bowl before i could get to him (he's very fast and determined when it comes to his dang plastic and frightened me more than once!!) i called the vet and they said he should pass it but vomiting or diarrhea were 2 signs for concern-so i concur w/jade-any doubts at all and you should check w/vet to make sure nothing is binding up in the intestines. hope all is well-keep us posted-i know how alarming this can be!!

Huh!  Weird.  As a general rule, Lisa, it's always a good idea to have the vet take a look when any new or odd behavior presents itself.  I'd take kitty to the vet right away.  This is only a guess, but maybe her heart is being taxed with these vomiting sessions.  

And since you say she eats plastic, another idea that occurs to me is she has ingested some plastic which is *causing* the vomiting.
