Please just reassure me.

My baby girl Twitch just got spayed yesterday. I understand that she is in pain, which I'm assuming is reason as to why she is sleeping a lot. But I have never seen stitches like these on a cat, maybe its because I went to a new vet? But she is not herself. I can't explain it. Also there seems to be just a little bit of what looks like dried blood on the incision, not enough to make me think she ripped it though. Can you guys just reassure me that everything in normal.

I did not get a cone from the vet. For the most part she leaves the stitches alone. She also is not on any pain meds and has slept off the anesthesia already. She is back to herself. As far as adding the other cat, he is very lazy and doesn't play much

Hi Carly, you want to keep kitty as quiet as possible right at first both so she can sleep off the anesthesia - she may not act herself for a few days, especially if she's on pain meds.  And you don't want her romping with another kitty just yet so as to protect the stitches.  I would wait until her stitches are either removed or dissolved, whichever is supposed to happen.  Didn't you get one of those cones from the vet?  If she even looks like she's biting at them, put the cone on.  I know it's no fun for either kitty or you/us to watch them be uncomfortable with the cone, but it's for their own good : )

Thank you. I guess I'm just a little worried. She is crazy and I'm afraid she will rip them out. Also how long should I wait to bring another cat into the house? We are bringing my girlfriends cat over, his name is Chump and he's a year old also very mellow and afraid of my Twitch even though he is a huge tom cat. But they do get along.

I have had 9 female kitties thus far in my adult life, all have had stitches from the spaying surgery, all have had a little "leakage" and all lived good lives thereafter.

Unless she really starts to exhibit changes in her normal behavior (eating, box habits, licking the incision a lot...), just give her some extra attention.

Cats heal pretty quickly in my experience.
