Post spay behavior in cats/kittens

Hello,

I had my 2 year old cat Charlie Rose, and one of her 3 kittens (4month female-Tiny) spayed and rabies vaccinated for the first time Jan 12.
Tiny came home, running all over the house, and appeared normal for the next few days.  Charlie on the other hand, came in hissing at the other 2 kittens (male Beanie and Rambo) and ignoring them.
Day 4 and 5 :  Charlie and Tiny, were sneezing, could not breath out the nose, and was sort of enlarged.  They were  breathing out of the mouth, but not coughing.  The gums were just fine, and the incision area was fine no infection from what I could see.

Day 7  :  Now Charlie is drooling, and Tiny appears miserable, but not due to pain.   now im thinking the surgery is the last of their worries. BUT now the other 2 kittens are showing signs of being sick. REALLY.

Now I feel bad because,   I have  made, missed and cancelled NUMEROUS appointments, because I was really concerned about having them fixed at a free clinic.  I was laid off when I found Charlie, she was an indoor cat that just happened to get out ONE day.  She was just fine before this surgery, and so were the kittens.

Today day 10, Charlie doesn't seem to be in pain,  but she is looking very sickly.   her nose isn't running anymore but dry, and her mouth is crusty WHY???  She will eat and drink water so I assuming she is somewhat )OK.   I keep picking her up and making sure she gets up and walking around.  But, today, she has stayed in the same spot on the couch in a blanket all day from what I can tell.  She did drink some water.  But I'm concerned is this a slow death or something.. my Charlie likes to see whats going on, come into the rooms....

I appreciate any feedback, because I can not afford a real VET.... I still have to go to a clinic, which I am DREADING RIGHT NOW.  I think something is very wrong

I like to keep a bottle of this Rescue remedy in my car just in case i come across an injured animal or car wreck situation. It's made from 28 varieties of flowers and is comparable to the relief of Xxanax. Putting it on the ears is an instant relief.

You can check a kitties temp by lightly kinda of a pinch position on the tips of their ears. 1 degree makes them miserable. When my kitties get congested and can't breath:
1. 2 wiffs of a Vicks inhaler
2. .25 liquid Benadryl
3. one drop Little Noses (kid sinus med)
4. hold them over running hot water with my face by theirs to make sure it is comfortable and calms them.
5. Take them outside to eat some grass (chloryphil fights URI and asthma; also allergies).

Never give a cat aspirin, Tylenol or anything of the sort. It is fatal to cats. Rescue Remedy from a local health food store calms them best and only cost about 8 bux for a bottle which should last well over a year. You drop 4 drops on your fingers alternating rubbing it on the inside of each ear. This works for humans too (job interview, arguing with s/o, kids driving ya nuts...). It's a good investment. It works to calm down kids and spouses too;)

hi, so sorry to hear what you are dealing with...I don't think this is due to the surgery but more so a 'cat flu' or Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) very possibly picked up at the vet clinic...Have Charlie and the kittens been vaccinated? I wouldn't do it now if they haven't already...don't believe in vaccinating a sick cat and have them get even worse...
And they have all been in contact now and these diseases spread quickly.

CATFLU..."as with human flu, these result from viruses and although a healthy cat can get over these symptoms in a few days, a cat with a weak immune system can develop a URI. left untreated can progress quickly and even be fatal in older or very ill cats.. Your cat may need antibiotics if he develops an infection, DO NOT allow your Vet to talk you into an antibiotic injection called convenia...this has proven to be fatal in many cats...(you can read some previous posts), ... go with a pill or liquid form if needed...

Immediately isolate a cat with flu like symptoms to prevent transmission. Use precautions such as frequent hand washing after handling. after recovery all bedding must be washed in hot water"

Charlies mouth and nose are dry b/c she most likely had a temp. wipe these areas with a cloth dipped in warm water..to sooth and cleanse.
also bring her into the bathroom area of the house with some hot water running so the ROOM is nice and steamy(just into the room NOT into the water) this will help clear her nasal passages so she can breath easier.

Do you have a good human Vitamin/Herb outlet nearby?
I can tell you what you need to buy to help her with her breathing. let me know.

you can also buy L-lysine thru your Vet and this is a VERY good amino acid to help her immune system.
I really hope you can find a way to have her seen by a Vet, she isn't well and
your poor girl is suffering, I am glad at least her appetite is still good and she is drinking. cats that can't smell will refuse their food, so you will need to keep a close eye on.
also be wary of signs of an infection such as fever...eye or mouth ulcers.
wishing you all the best of luck this may take some diligent care on your behalf.
