Sick cat?

Helo,
My 10.5 year old indoor cat, Stripie Lou, had pyrometra and was spayed last week. She seemed to be doing fine, considering what she went through.  She has been healing very good, but in the last 24 hours she hasnt been able to keep food or water down. If she just takes one mouthful of food or just a tiny drink she is ok. Me along with ,Stripie and her sister, travel with my husband for his job so we aren't very close to her vet. She is getting over the 'shivering' during the night which scared me until I found out what it was....but now the vomiting is really scaring me.She is so small, only 7 pounds before the surgery and has lost weight since.Should I find her a temporary vet until we get back to her old one in 3 days? Thanks for any help or info...

hi Lynette, so sorry to read abt the difficulties your kitty is having. I posted a Vet site with more info on the drug you are using. Its possible she could be having a reaction to the medication. IMO I wouldn't wait b/c kitty is so tiny already, she cannot afford to lose any weight and really needs to see a Vet asap.
if she isn't holding anything down she will soon become dehydrated or go into organ failure. please seek out a clinic.
Ours prayers go with you and kitty. Please keep us updated...♥

thats great, as long as she's eating and drinking even small amounts and holding it down...tomorrow you'll be home and she can see her own Vet who knows her history, makes the situation easier.
Good luck to little Stripie..she sure is a cutie. keep us updated ((>^..^<))

Hi,
I didnt bring Stripie in to the vet last night......instead I tried just giving her 1 tsp food and a couple tbsp water. She keep it down, this morning I did the same with the same result. I'm thinking that she just ate to fast or too much. She has eaten 3x today....1 tsp at a time..every 30 minutes and it stayed down. I will keep doing this, along with giving her meds....and keep a close eye on her. If anything comes up I will bring her to her vet..we will be back in NY tomorrow. Thanks to both of you for your concern!

Hi, thanks for the response! I went to the site with the drug info but didn't find anything helpful, when she was first put on the med I read all the info that I could find.
Stripe Lou has been on the meds for 12 days, with no reactions....the vomiting has started in the last 2 days. I am looking online to find a vet here to bring her to, it's so hard to choose when there isn't any feedback on the vets....will let you know what happens to her...
Thanks again :-)

Hi..thanks for the response :-)
Yes, she is still on meds..she gets 0.9 ml daily of Orbifloxcin oral suspension...at first she loved the taste......the vet gave me the option of flavored..but she doesn't care for it anymore :-(  , but I can still squirt it in her mouth..poor kitty..
When she was spayed they removed both the overies and the uterus because of the pyromentra.
I put about 1 TBSP. of food on her plate so she can have a bite when she wants...always keep the fresh water available...

Is she still on meds?  Unfortunately, pryromentra is pretty common in unspayed cats, particularly over the age of 5 or so.  It is likely that the infection spread beyond her uterus and ovaries (hopefully both were completely removed surgically), so she still needs to heal from more than just the surgery itself.  If you don't have her on meds to treat the infection, then I would take her to a vet ASAP.
