What is This????

One of my cats is vomiting white foam. It has happened just once but because Abby has a history of vomiting white foam due to his liver disease, I am getting a bit anxious. None of my cats are showing signs of distress or lack of hunger or desire to eat. My parents are here, and Dillan is not very used to him and is a bit apprehensive; but that’s all. I’m not sure if that’s causing him to throw up like that. Abby is used to the presence of my parents and LOVES my dad. I have no idea who threw up. What do you guys think? I might call the vet later on today. It’s my birthday dang it…
Oh..the prescription food is helping a lot with Abby's IBD. And both my cats like it a lot. Could it be they are eating too much? They are both gaining a lot of weight. I honestly don't know how much fatter Abby can get lol.

I have a cat who has a habit of eating non edible things, like pieces of plastic fished out of the trash can or strings. I try to keep those things out of her reach but every now and then I slip up  She horks up white liquid sometimes when her body is trying to expel it.

My kitty, Pumpkin throws up sometimes, maybe 2 times a month or so, and its usually just his cat food. I'm wondering if he is chowing it down too fast and its making him throw up? He's been on the same medicine for about 5 years. He seems perfectly fine and he is a strictly indoor cat (even though he doesnt want to be). But yesterday he vomited some white liquid. Haven't seen anything since then. But I also gave him a flee treatment about 1 week ago.
Also; I buy cat milk from Pet Smart, and he loves it. Is that okay for a full grown cat? It isn't kitten milk, its just regular cats milk.

Savas! We have missed you!! where have you been? I hope the wife is doing well :)
Thanks for the input. They always shed.....they have so much hair I can't really tell when they are NOT shedding LOL. It could have been a hairball.
They are both fine and happy. So it was probably nothing.

Glad to have you back :)

If it doesn't happen again, it's just a stomach upset.

Try getting some water into the guilty party if it is happening frequently. The white foam means she's tossing up bile. Which does happen on occasion.

It could be she's doing a bit of hairball tossing up as well. Is kitty shedding?

Oh;  Hi Again! ;->

Thank you ladies :)

Linda, I thought I'd feel kicking and jabbing when I was closer to 25 weeks but the little stinker is very active at night. It's like there is a party in there LOL.

Hmm.. Abby could not have eaten grass unless my husband forgot to tell me. We do take him out to the yard but we are always with him, keeping a close watch. Abby is never out there for more than 5 minutes. So unless my husband isn't telling me something I should know then I don't think he ate grass. He is funny. He walks by my side when we are in the yard..and he meows very loud like saying 'OMG I'm free look at this! OMG This is so cool!' hahaha

ZQ, You are never late honey. Thank you for posting and showing me once again that you care.  Mr. Abster is eating right now!! I will post a picture LOL..

First, glad to hear about the kicking going on!  Noah will be a heck of a soccer player, no doubt. lol   Do you think the fact that the kitties are going out more and eating the rich grass might cause it.  The last week I've been dealing with a bout of diarrhea with Heidi.  The only thing different is that I'm still giving her indoor formula cat food but now she is going outside and eating that grass a lot, maybe it's that combination that's too rich for her since she's never gone outside before, so far no foam with her.

Oh yes....you are right, aheart. But Abigail is an indoor kitty. No way he could have eaten something bad.

On the plus side....I haven't seen any more white foam so I'm thinking it was a one time thing. Yay to that!

I know that when cats are having tummy distress if they can get outside they will often eat grass and it seems to help sometimes, Is abby an outdoor cat? She may have run into something fowl out there,

9days ago, then it doesn't seem likely, but you never know about a delayed reaction.  I doubt it though.  Dillans skin looks okay this time?  So hard to say who it was that vomited.  Both Dillan and Abby have such long fur...could be someone's trying to cough up a hair ball.  Or, maybe either of them ate too much and has an upset tummy, but enough time went by for the food to start leaving the stomach and only bile came up.

I wish I could give you a more definite answer :(  Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Oh, but I put the Revolution on last week Monday. Could it still have the same effect?.

I did give them both their flea treatment: Revolution. Abby has always been on this medication. Dillan……I had to stop it when he was 5 months because the Revolution was burning his skin. At least it looked like that to me. So this month I decided to give them both their meds for the fleas.  Could it have been Dillan then?

Jade that’s a great point!

Has either one of the cats had shots?  Or flea treatment put on?  Jade did this vomiting of white foam after her vaccinations.  Or could be trying to get a hair ball up (that's one answer that came up when I searched this community.)

I am ecstatic to hear the prescription food is helping.  Both cats liking it is definitely a plus! :)

If they were eating too much, they'd likely vomit some of the food instead of just bile.  Hmm...those are the only things I can think of.  Of course, it could just be the presense of your folks in your home since like you said, makes Dillan a little nervous.  Hopefully it won't happen again and is an isolated issue.
