you are so right, I've had to make that decision many times myself for my beautiful babies....I once read 'grief is the price we pay for love' and its true isn't it... knowing that I still wouldn't trade a day of the love I shared with each one of them, nor would I ever be able to let them die alone either...we are their parents and there is no greater show of love than to be there for them no matter how badly it hurts, as Jade said it is our last loving responsibility.♥

This is a very nice, well written & informative article....thank you for sharing it.  I am a strong believer in being there while the whole process is playing out.  It is the hardest thing a loving pet owner can do, but also the most incredible act of kindness.  I had to make this choice a few months back for my kitty Thyme, I swear it would have been easier for me to cut my right arm off then to put her down.  But I loved her enough to do it no matter how bad it hurt me.

This is the worst "best" decision we have to make for our furpers...one of those conflicts of head and heart.

Thank you for this, Opus.  It is detailed and explains things well.  I had trouble getting through it thinking of our Abby (our first experience with euthanasia and Not good due to an insensitive Vet) and someday in the Far (I hope) future, Jade.  This is our last loving responsibility we will have to endure and fulfill for out babies.  *sniff*
