Why is my cat bleeding?

My female cat is 7 years old and has beed fixed, but for the past few months she has been bleeding, kind of like a peroid, brownish colored blood. She also has a strong urine smell all the time. She's leaving her brownish blood on everything. I have to bathe her all the time because of the urine smell and the blood. What could be wrong with her?

It's more likely then that it's a UTI. I'd suggest a treatment of antibiotics. Do you have a vet you can take her to? This is one of those situations where you can't really avoid it.

My cat was fixed 6 years ago, so could that still be the problem even though it's been so long?

Was your cat fixed recently? Sometimes when they fix a cat the don't remove the entire uterus (a small piece is left behind). This can cause recurring infection and vaginal discharge/bleeding. You'll need a different vet's opinion as getting the vet to admit he screwed up is highly unlikely.
