Cat throwing up

My 2 year old cat has been throwing up about once a day for the past week.  Other than throwing up, she acts normally, she is eating and drinking normally.  The throw up is a brown liquid and she usually throws up during the night as we find it when we get up in the mornings.  There is no smell to the vomit.  Is this something serious?

Hi.  Do you brush your kitty regularly?  If you do, then this is probably not a hair ball.  I am also worried that you said that this is has been going on for 3 days.  I think it's time to bring kitty to the vet.  He could have some infection going on that needs antibiotics.

When this is cleared up, I would give him hair ball remedy 2 or 3 times a week.

Best wishes!!

My 1 year old Persian male just started throwing up a brownish liquid.  We have hard wood floors, so I see it, it's very watery.  He isn't himself, he just lays by the door, looking out, or sleeps behind the chair.  He was always a laid back kitty, but now I'm getting worried.  Do you think it's a hairball or a piece of a plant, or some sort of virus?  This has been going on for 3 days.  He drinks a little water and eats very little.  I'm so worried.

Hi there,

Our male ginger cat throws up too sometimes and it's also at night.
The throw up is brown liquid. In fact, he threw up this morning in his
little fur bed and I found a furball as part of the throw up ( sorry to be
so graphic).  We give him antihairball paste too sometimes.
Our cat is also eating and drinking normally. I will have to begin brushing
him even more often. He loves the antihairball paste which we purchased
at  Pet Value. Only give a 1/4 of a teaspoon and I put the paste on my finger
and let him lick it off my finger. Hope this helps. We pet parents have to help
each other.   Eve

hi, is it only brown liquid and nothing more in the vomit? do you ever see or hear any choking like sound? your kitty could be trying to expel a hairball. I would try some hairball remover that comes in a paste at good pet stores, squeeze out an give kitty abt an inch of this gel everyday for a few days and see if she is able to expel something from her tummy which could be irritating to her....but there are many other causes of vomiting too and I will send you an article for further reading.
