Thanks-That was so sweet of you to say-glad you can't see me blushing LOL!! I really love helping people out, and I was hoping that I've helped at least a few people. HOPE SO!!
By the way, I haven't figured out a way to "make"(yeah... right!) a cat allow you to brush them when they hate the brush. No clue. My 15 yr old girl, completely hates her belly brushed and it looks quite nasty. She's matted right now, and I am scared of cutting them out. Her name is Skunkie, and like Abby, she is long-haired(not a persian though). These long-haired's get knotted up so easy-UGGGHHH!!! Think this'll be a two-person job-I don't want to cut her.
Well, hope you all stayed safe in the hurricane, and you'll be on the beach soon!! The storm that hit here was nothing. People got all freaked out over nothing.
Take care, sweetie-I will def. keep in touch.
Yeah...even a tropical storm can cause powerful harm to people driving. Please be careful my friend.
Well It's saturday and I can't go to the beach..and I live so close I can smell it lol. I just have to cross the street. It's so unfair. There are red flags on the beach indicating the beach is closed for the public. Florida is a hurricane expressway. They come and go as they please. We get hit by all of them. It's frustrating sometimes.
Well about me spoiling Abby.....you know it lol. I do spoil him a lot. He's got so many toys I lost count. I only do it because the poor guy stays home alone for more than 12 hours almost every day, and I feel sorry for him sometimes that he does get bored...and still does not destroy or damage anything in the house and instead he plays with his toys. He is just a love. The only bad thing about him is that he doesn't like being groomed. He complains and bites the brush. If I don't do it you'll see hair all over the house...you know that part, and there's the hairball part, and shedding ugh. He is, besides trying to get my attention right now lol, a very hairy cat and he is matted. I hate it when I feel a matt while petting him. Yet he doesn't like people grooming him. It's just his personality. Another thing is, and I read a post about a lady whose health is going downhill and her old kitty likes it when she looks at him when he eats. I have the same issue. If you pet him when he is eating he'll start purring and eating faster, or pretend he is eating faster lol. If you're not there he calls you lol. He wont stop until you are right next to him when he is eating. Trust me, my cat can sometimes test my patience. The only thing that saves him from getting disciplined sometimes is the fact that I find him so cute lol....
Stay in touch Staci. You're a great help to me and everyone.
Hugs!
Hi, I'm happy to hear that Abby is doing good. He's lucky to have such a good mom. I can tell that you love him and take great care of him(I bet you spoil the "you know what" out of him).
Well, you and your family stay safe with the hurricane coming. Hopefull, ONLY one. I am in Va, and a tropical storm is getting ready to hit us. I'm not that worried about it, except I have to drive in the mess in the morning!!!!
Take Care
Hugs

I'll tell Abby you think he is gorgeous :), and thank you for the compliment. I adore him. He is doing well. As long as I keep him on a dry food diet then we can prevent the mess. I have not had the chance to take him to the vet with hurricanes threatening my area, but he has not been bleeding at all. Thank you for asking. Your cats are also very sweet looking…..they’re just beautiful.
It is very common if a declawed cat bites too frequently…and hard. My cat is declawed. However, he is very gentle, and knows limits when he is biting so that is one good thing I can be happy about. I guess I have managed to get him so many toys he keeps himself busy all the time biting stuff. Now he has a cat tunnel which he totally loves…and bites lol. I think that is what needs to be done with this kitty. If the cat isn’t declawed then the problem or situation is that the pet is still very young, and needs to be disciplined.
Hi I am doing good, I hope you and Abby are doing good. By the way, Abby is gorgeous!! How is Abby doing? Are his "booty" problems any better?
OK, back to the biting topic. Cat bites-the deep ones-can be very serious. My mom's finger swelled within 3 hrs of a deep cat bite from her declawed cat. She went to the ER and they said it was a good thing she came in and didn't wait. So, Kandybin, and everyone else that's reading this-keep an eye out for major swelling and redness, and go to the doc ASAP. Don't worry as much with little bites.
Hi zodiacqueen,
It's true what you say. Kittens can be vicious and bite real hard to the point of swelling. My cat doesn't do that but I had to teach him. He is now very gentle when he bites my hand. I hope you’re doing terrific!....
Hugs!
Hi, pretty kitty gave you some great ideas-I agree with her. By any chance, is your cat declawed? Cats that have been declawed WILL bite more, since that's the only way they can protect theirselves.
Also, please be careful, if the cat really does bite deeply, you can get a serious infection. If your finger starts swelling up, then go to the ER quickly. That would call for antibiotics ASAP. Right after the cat bites, then IMMEDIATELY wash your hands with antibacterial soap and use hydrogen peroxide.
Hopefully, with the suggestions above, your kitty will learn quickly. Let us know how it goes!!
It is normal behavior; but very uncomfortable for us. He doesn't know boundaries yet, but you can teach him. Whenever he bites you hard you can yelp. This is a sign he'll uderstand very well. It will tell him you are in pain and it is time to let go. You can also try squirting him with water. Cats usually learn after the second try. Furthermore, you should encourage him to bite toys. Teach him that biting his toys is allowed, but your hand isn't. Throw toys so that he can chase them and always set limits to his behavior. All kitties are like that....trust me.
