cat soft tissue injury

My 3 yr old cat suffered a soft tissue injury - per our vet- to his rear right leg - unknown as to how injury occurred. This happened 1 week ago and the vet put him on prednisone -diagnosed with feline asthma during visit as well. He is still "dragging" paw most ot the time and just lies around. He wont walk much and I am wondering generally how long it take for an injury like this to heal. He is normally a very playfull cat.

I spoke to the vet yesterday and he his concerned about a neurological problem now. I don't know what to think. He goes back to the vet next week. The xray showed no breaks but obviously something is going on. Thanks for your response. I appreciate it.

Did the vet tell you if there's any muscular or nerve damage? Or tendon? It Sounds like there's probably some sort of issue there as well Muscular shouldn't take more than a week or two, but a tendon injury could take weeks, with a danger of re-injury.
