pooping outside of litter box

My one year old female used her box excellently for a year then a couple weeks ago she way licking her backside until he was kind infected so off to the vet we went.  After a week of meds the cone and lots of rest she appears back to normal.  But I noticed she isn't using the litter boxes.  She has popped on the floor (carpet) and pee in two different cardboard boxes she found.  What is going on and how do I correct this.

It is a good thing you took her to the vet - the reason most cats avoid the litterbox is usually do to a health problem. Did the vet by any chance mention why she was licking the area in the first place? A bout of diarrhea could do it.

I agree with the previous post, it is most likely due to fear that she is avoiding the litterbox. She associates it with pain now.

Here is a really helpful article by the ASPCA:

I am sending you a good article to read, can you copy and paste it in your URL...

if there was pain when she used her litter box to poop she was associating this pain with the litter box thats why she started going elsewhere....and now the areas that she used previous have the scent of her urine and poop so she doesn't know this isn't the place to use....cats go by scent.
even if you cleaned the areas good, if you didn't use a good enzyme cleaner than you haven't completely removed the scent from her sensitive nose...there are many good enzyme cleaners avail at good pet stores....
I also have just read testimonials of this new cleaner called FIZZION..that is supposed to be much better than anything else on the market..whatever you do be sure to get something, just water/bleach or vinegar will NOT work.
