It is better to wait but sometimes you can't tell. I thought my cat was done being in heat (she had calmed down, etc. :) but when I took her in they said she was still in heat. Although, sometimes I wonder if they didn't say that just to charge me more. It was one of those cheap places that I'll never go to again. Anyway, I wound up getting it done anyway and paying more.
But I agree with PrettyKitty. I know it can be difficult to time it but try to get it done between cycles.
I too am glad your being a responsible owner and getting your cat spayed!
I wouldn't do it. I'd wait until this period is over to then spay the cat. The spay is slightly more difficult due to the engorgement of the tissues and larger blood vessels. And yes, minor complications may arise.
Because surgery in these cases require more time, you may have to pay an extra charge.
Good thing to want to spay your cat. :)
