yogurt

Hi.  I have a 12 year old male cat who absolutely loves yogurt.  Whenever I have some for myself, he circles me like a shark.  Because I'm a sucker, I'll allow him a taste (up to a teaspoon) and he laps it up immediately.  My question is probably obvious.  Is this okay for him?  If I bought some unflavored yogurt at the grocery store, could this be a treat for him?  If so, how much at a time?  His weight right now is okay, not great but okay.  As of September he weighed 11lbs which puts him slightly overweight, but not alarmingly so.

Milk products that have lactose is a no no. I think yogurt is okay...but it's wise never to give kitty to much non-meat human food. A treat for special affection time is okay. :)

i do the same thing with my cats...the one loves it also  I have heard that plain yogurt is good for cats (small amounts i think).  I know people that give their cats milk also.  i have not had any problems with cats so hopefully it's okay to give them.

I was always told to not give milk to cats but never heard anything about yogurt. I wouldn't think that small of an amount would hurt him. He is after all at the ripe old age of 12 so you must be doing something right! :)

Thanks for your replies!  I think that a little yogurt treat (once in a while) should be okay.
