Has anyone had any issues with a paralyzed vocal core and did surgery help?

My daughter has had CM for ten years.  She had decompression surgery with no results. She has had numerous issues, the most recent being hoarseness for the past six months and was diagnosed with a paralyzed vocal cord.  Speech therapy was unsuccessful and surgery is the next option.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

May I ask, what all was done during her surgery....there are different types....one is more invasive where the dura is opened and a patch is placed, and some bone is removed from C1 and C2.....
Also, do you know if she has any related conditions?

Prior to surgery I had issues where my voice would disappear when I would try to sing....it was really odd....not sure how to explain it but I was told it was Chiari related.

She had the decompression surgery where they removed the maximum bone but no patch was placed.  Her CM and very large syringx is affecting her right side with daily headaches, pain, loss of strength and sensation in her right arm and moving into her right leg.  She is left handed so at least it isn't her dominate side.  Her right vocal cord is the one that is paralyzed and the doctor said he can somehow attach them so they get  to come together and she can have her normal voice back.  I don't know the success rate so was wondering if anyone else had this problem.
So her syrinx didn't shrink at all post op?And since no patch was that indicates the less invasive procedure and the benefits if any tend to  be short lived....most that have had this type of procedure went on to have the more involved procedure later on.
I have never heard of attaching vocal cords?????
