Has anyone got approved for l & I for Chiari I Malformation, Aggravation of trauma?

I was involved in a slip and fall injury, I reported neck pain the next day to all my Drs and even had a catscan, After a month of excruciating neck pain, Chiropractic care, PT, and seeing a specialist, my symptoms got worse. I went to emergency and they gave me a MRI and they diagnosed me with Chiari I Malformation and Hydromyelia. I was also getting adjustments done twice a week. As the l and I dr ordered? Now they are saying I need brain surgery. Help

Chiari symptoms can be triggered by a fall such as you described and worsen  with Chiropractic adjustments....they are not the correct treatment for us......

As the above poster mentions the hydromyelia is possibly the reason your Dr is suggesting surgery, but I would caution you to check on that Drs experience not only with  this surgery but with ALL related conditions and were they ALL ruled out? The related conditions can affect the outcome of surgery so do make sure you 1- have the right Dr and 2- ALL related conditions are ruled out b4 surgery is discussed.

Chiari is a congenital condition and you will want to ask is your condition congenital or is it acquired due to the fall....they should be able to tell you which you have.....surgery may be the best course of treatment either way.....but with congenital Chiari comes ALL the related conditions....and if your Dr does not want to look into these, this may not be the right Dr for you.

The hydromyelia might be the reason your doctor wants surgery. I have syringomylia and I had to have surgery because it causes nerve damage and if I had left it untreated the nerve damage would just worsen over time. Myself I was born with chiari, I did not know this until last year, it was not caused by injury. I know everything is very overwhelming right now and try to stay calm if you can.
