A poem to share with u all.....

I asked permission from another chiari/syringomyelia person who wrote a lovely poem if I could share it with u all here. I believe u all will like it as much as I did. If ne one would like to contact the author Dana B .....PM me and I will give u a contact link.

What I have learned.

I have learned that I have a high tolerance for pain
And a low tolerance for shallow people.

I have learned that I have a greater capacity to understand other's disabilities due to my own.
And I give more freely of myself because of it.

I have learned that reaching out to people is not as hard as I thought it was.
And I am happier that I have done so.

I have learned that life is tough
And how you get through it makes a difference.

I have learned that a smile goes along way, for both myself and the receiver.
And I CAN smile despite my own situation.

I have learned that I am still me, even if my package has a few dings in it.
And I love myself anyway!

SM (and CM) may have robbed us of many things; freedom, activity, sanity, and self esteem, but since we are much stronger for having to deal with these issues, we CAN find our way to recovering these important things that make us unique....

Hi,
I would be honored and thank you so much for appreciating my poem to that level! You may put my name as the author, Dana B.

Hi, I have my recovery posted in a journal for all my chiari friends to see, if u can not see it just send a friend request.

I posted my experience with my surgery and how I felt heading in.....many of the members here have done the same, so click on a name and u should be able to check journals for their stories.

I just returned from my apt.with Dr Oro my Chiari has gone from a 4 to a 7!

I had surgery in 2006 to repair damage from a car accident in 2004, it was for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome!  This surgery went very wrong and ended up disabling me.
Ever since then Drs blame everything on that and Ive had a horrible time getting someone to treat me for all the Symptoms Chiari causes! I was told everything I just read in the poems!

Thank you all so much for sharing! I was terrified of another surgery due to the failure of the last.. I prayed yesterday and last night for a sign and guidence for the right Dr and also this is actually causing most of my problems, boy if this isn't a sign I don't know what is! I cried like a baby when I read those poems!

Can I ask what your recovery was like?
Thanks again,
DebM
