What I have learned.
I have learned that I have a high tolerance for pain
And a low tolerance for shallow people.
I have learned that I have a greater capacity to understand other's disabilities due to my own.
And I give more freely of myself because of it.
I have learned that reaching out to people is not as hard as I thought it was.
And I am happier that I have done so.
I have learned that life is tough
And how you get through it makes a difference.
I have learned that a smile goes along way, for both myself and the receiver.
And I CAN smile despite my own situation.
I have learned that I am still me, even if my package has a few dings in it.
And I love myself anyway!
SM (and CM) may have robbed us of many things; freedom, activity, sanity, and self esteem, but since we are much stronger for having to deal with these issues, we CAN find our way to recovering these important things that make us unique....
Hi,
I would be honored and thank you so much for appreciating my poem to that level! You may put my name as the author, Dana B.
