Burning tongue = thrush??

So I know this isn't a specific topic to CM but a some of you mentioned that you got thrush on your tongue after the surgery. My tongue has been bothering me for weeks, it's been burning and I've felt like I had dry mouth and just this gross taste in my mouth. Last night, it just drove me nuts so I took a flashlight and looked in there...I can't tell for sure how white it is in the back but there were definitely blisters back there. Plus, my tongue looks swollen to me. I want to go to the walk in clinic or something but I still have one child home with the flu and my DH couldn't get out of work today. For some reason I am getting scared about this which is probably ridiculous but it is now making my throat feel raw and raspy when I swallow. Just when I breathe in, it feels raw. I should mention, my surgery was 6 weeks ago, so would it even pop up that late? I would appreciate it if those who have gone through this could let me know if what I am going through was similiar to theirs.
Thanks Carolyn

So..my DH ended up being able to come home for awhile so I went down to the clinic...
I told the DR there my history and he looked at my tongue and he doesn't think that there is anything there. Apparently, those big bumps can be normal for some people (I wouldn't know, I don't normally have a reason to look!!) So his opinion is that it is neurological, he says there is a main nerve that serves the tongue and it can be causing all the weird burning and buzzing. Honestly, I had a feeling that was what he was going to say but I think I was in denial!! I think I just wanted to once have an easy, curable explanation!!! ARRRRGH!
Anyhow, now I got that out...I have noticed the lovely throat clearing is back and I'm sure next on the way is the PND..sigh

So now I'm just going douse my tongue with cold fluids and hope that this is a sign of nerves healing..

On the plus side, the clinic DR was really interested on my diagnosis, symptoms and what they did in surgery...so at least I got to pass some info around :)

I do get acid reflux here and there, have for years...

I don't see too much of the pasty film except maybe way at the back of my tongue but I can't tell if it's the flashlight making it look white..no cracks but these big blisters all over the back of my tongue.

I had only had antibiotics in the hospital which is why I would find it weird that I would have problems now..However, it has bothered me for weeks, just has got worse in the last few days.

I am going to try and make the clinic before it closes tonight...I guess I'm just trying to settle my nerves!! My swallowing is bad enough and so I hate anything that makes it feel worse!

HI Carolyn,

May I ask, do u also have acid reflux?....if so u may have some issues from the acid.

Thrush u get a pasty white thick film on ur tongue.....and it cracks.

Can u try to go to the clinic tonight after ur DH gets home?....or call ur PCP to see what he feels it could be?

When did u finish antibiotics?
