Thank you everyone!
For those asking about my syrinx, if u go to my profile I have my yearly ones posted! I never had c spine mri until. 2010  so we don't know how long it's been there. It has grown slightly every year though :(  it's short, but very wide. It is actually expanding my cord.

Wow, if you are this brave to have delayed surgery, and feel well, I trust that you will have an excellent recovery!

Good to know.. I am still so new to all of this and I like hearing everyones own stories of how they balanced surgery with no surgery.. GOOD LUCK!!! It sounds like you are pretty positive about the whole thing so that is always the better for your outcome :)

Hello Mazie,

I am sending a prayer for your surgery to be good. I didn't have many syptoms either, but I am glad the surgery went well cause it took carre of it.  It was balance issues.

Thanks for your well wishes!! I am trying to be positive!!
@Girlinxile, i have known of my syrinx for about 3-4yrs, I have known about chiari for 13+ years!  Nope I dont really have alot of symptoms, and all of them are managed decently by neurontin, advil cold n sinus!  But my syrinx keeps growing, so its time! Thats one of my big fears! I feel ok now and what if the surgery makes me feel worse?!?!
But I know I could deteriorate quickly and the damage may be irreversible..so its time..:(
8 more days!!  Although I am still waiting on Cardiologist to fax medical clearance!!

When i had my 1st MRI, my dr ordered me to b checked in to the hospital immediately & surgery scheduled the next day.  It was very shocking bcuz i never even heard of a chiari malformation. My NS was great-compassionate, informative & took the time to make me feel comfortable, as everything was happening so fast.  My surgery went well so i wishing you the best as well. GOOD LUCK!!!

My sugery is  scheduled for June 6th. While I feel pretty well, he really feels I should quit waiting, and get it done, it is larger than last year, and even more from the 2010 mri.  He is worried about the damage I am doing to my spinal cord as in the one spot its taking over 95% of my cord up and expanding it :( So the decompression will hopefully stop the growth..

Only u and ur Dr can make that decision...but ur syrinx looks large, not sure if it is larger than it was b4....

make sure u r comfortable with ur Dr and talk about how he/she feels u will benefit from surgery....I know u have put it off for sometime now...

Keep us posted on what u do
