Chiari hemiparesis

Hey for the past year I have been getting sort of numbness on my right side of the body, I always used to have major major headaches everyday but those have seemed to go away now and I feel like my right side is tight weak and numb sometimes it is really bad for a hour or so then it seems to get better, I have gotten brain MRI and full spine MRI and all they found was Chiari I was wondering if my symptoms could be from Chiari. It's not weak to a point where I can't lift anything heavy but it is almost like my right side gets tired way faster if I'm running on treadmill or lifting weights my right side always gets tired faster even though I am right hand dominant. I always used to be strong on my right side now I'm not as strong. I also got really bad whiplash a year ago and felt on on my right side of the neck for a while could that have also triggered it ? Please let me know thanks.

  Yes, I did have numbness.I even had  what some  consider to be a bells palsy in that with numbness on my left side I also had some drooping of my lips and eye on the left...so it was visible. Lucky for me I had it while at my Chiari Drs office and the nurse saw it.

Chiari itself can cause us to suffer anxiety as well as  the medical profession that tend to not listen to us....

My symptoms also worsened with stress as well....it is  a vicious cycle....

  Hi Benzdel and welcome to the Chiari forum.

It is very possible the whip lash or what ever caused the whip lash could have triggered dormant Chiari symptoms to flare....and since Chiari symptoms flare and cycle it is also possible that you have had symptoms b4 but were unaware of them since they tend to come and go.

Without more testing it is not easy to say what is causing your right sided numbness,,,,,but I had weakness and issues and mine were all on my left...but I did have upper body weakness  as well.

Did you have a CINE MRI? .....And do you have copies of your MRI and the report?

Did you have numbness symptoms? It's not 100% numb it's just reduced sensation not as ticklish as my left side for example 80% feeling but there are times when my right side face and whole right side feel numb and go back to normal again. I just don't know what else it can be I have been to neurologists and doctors got many tests they bring it down to chiari and anxiety. I have really bad anxiety about health I keep thinking my symptoms are from a major disease but the doctors say it's chiari and anxiety. I notice symptoms are worse when I'm stressed out. Would chiari not cause one sided numbness and weakness ?
