Do you think Chiari could be a possibility?

Hey guys I'm Sophia and im 17 years old, and I'm new to this site so bare with me. I have been to every doctor (Psychiatrist, ENT, PT, neurologist, ophthalmologist and my regular physician) under the sun to figure out what possibly be wrong with me and none of them have come up with anything. I have complained about my symptoms so they had me on medication for vertigo (Meclizine) and stuff for psychiatric disorders but it nothing seemed to work they than had me take an MRI to see if anything chemically was wrong and everything came back normal. But what they did find was 4mm herniation and a syrinx. i took another MRI of my spine to check the syrinx and it seamed to have disappeared but they than found that i had mild degenerative arthritis. sense i went to PT my balance had gotten better, but my visual problems never went away and my ophthalmologist said all my tests came back fine. so what im wondering is if it could possibly be chiari although my neurologist said that my herniation is not big enough to worry about and he wants to send me to a doctor in Boston to try and figure it out. its the only thing i have came across that i think it could be so any advise would help! thanks!
I have also tired to tell my family about it and they all think im crazy, and need to get over it, and my mom is the only one who understands. /
here are a list of my symptoms:
- Headaches that get worse by coughing (im constantly sick) and bending over
- Ringing in the ears (my ENT thinks it might be from the tubes i got as a child)
- Dizziness
- slight Hearing loss in the right ear
- Rooms spinning back and forth
- Objects shaking
- I feel like I’m not here and then feel tingly and dizzy
- Nausea
-When I sleep I feel like I’m twisting back in forth, or tilting forward and backward.
- Neck and back pains
- My eyes strain easily, feel full of pressure, and hurt
- I go numb faster than normal
- Sensitivity to light
- When I look at something everything around it goes blurry
- Eye floaters
- Dizziness
- I feel weak, tired and drained/ fatigued
- Head pressure
- My legs feel really heavy when I lay down like they are make of steel
- I find it hard to track things with my eyes
- My pupils are always dilated (My ophthalmologist said it was normal for "young people"(?))

hi and welcome.

u are quite young .,hence i would suggest first of all ...please stay as much

calm as possible without having stress .,becoz symptoms could be

aggrevated more when u have stress

do u have ICP? are u over weight?

few of the symptoms u have mentioned are also found in ICP. and like selmaS mentioned they are found in  other chiari related conditions too.

and as u must be already aware chiari symptoms are common to many

neurological illnesses( for eg MS)  .. .

. since u say u have had an MRI which showed a herniation.,The

symptoms  could be due to chiari  .But the dr needs to confirm it.

U need to find a good chiari knowing dr., suited to ur needs and raise ur

queries and get an answer .

Best wishes on that note .

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

I too was sent to a shrink and given meds for anxiety and given the brush off at the same age, however MRI's were not used like they are today so I was not DX'd until  I was 48,

Many of ur symptoms do sound like they could be Chiari or a Chiari related condition.

We do have a list of Drs that the members here have been to and liked, the list is not a referral nor an endorsement but they are names of Drs the member were to, treated by and liked so it is a starting place to research Drs. to find the right one for u.
