Plavix itching, redness and more side effects

the doctor prescribed plavix for my mother as she has a brain stroke. after she took the medicine for 10 days the follwoing symptoms starts to appear: diarrhea, itching, skin redness and rash. We are not much worry about the diarrhea as much as the other symptoms because my mother can't stop scratching herself and her body is pink to red. the doctor said she can't stop the medicine because this put her situation endanger. What can be done in such a situation? Are there any alternatives to this medicine with less number of side effects? Appreciate your response

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Does your Mother have Chiari as well?

I understand your mother needs this med as it is a blood thinner ,but you may want to ask the Pharmacist as they know meds better then most Drs....and see if there is something that will work the same with fewer chances of the side effects she is having.

Try a oatmeal bath to see if it helps in the meantime with the itching.
Good luck and keep us posted on her progress.
