Just a quick ? :)

i read somewhere in one of these forum's that.........If/when you have problems breathing at night, while sleeping or wake up gasping for air that it means your CM is progressing.
Before my muscle's started to twitch head to toe and all my other SX started well about maybe a month before that i noticed everynight when i layed down in bed to go to sleep i had breathing troubles and while i was sleeping Id wake up as if i was paralyzed gasping for air.
I never thought much of it but now Im thinking it related to CM.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! ..

Hi...chiari and sleep apnea r related issues and this needs to be addressed ASAP......there       was  a chat on sleep apnea and  u might be able to see the transcripts from it to see what was said...also u  Still might be able to ask Dr Park some questions......http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Chiari-Malformation/Expert-Interview-Dr-Mack-Jones-on-Neurologic-Complications-of-Sleep-Apnea/show/1442474

Please do not wait on this...ask ur PCP to schedule at a sleep clinic.

Thank you for responding!

It doesnt happen anymore or atleast not to that extent. I go to bed before my husband.  I told him about this after I had read this could possibly CM related. I asked him watch out for me gasping for air or what not. It was pretty scary when it was going on but I never thought much of it,other then just being in a deep sleep or something.
Well I just had an awful NL who DX'ED me with CM but am now im the process of going to see a new NL so I'll definetly tell them about this sleeping thing.
Is Sleep Apnea really common with CM?

Thanks for the info!!

You need to have your doctor order a sleep study,(polysomnography test). It is most frequently called sleep apnea. It can be cause by your brain failing to send the message to take your next breath, or from OSA which can be caused by a number of things that push down or weigh down on your throat, blocking off airflow.        This test is a one night test, you will go to a clinic or hospital and be hooked up to quite a few wires, and a specialist will observe you and your readings while you sleep to see what is actually happening.    You must not allow this to keep happening, it can dammage brain cells and attribute to heart diesease, stroke,or even death.
