LIST OF CHIARI SPECIALISTS UK~~~

Here is the UK list I found on the ann conroy trust site

They practise in different parts of the UK but they all have an interest in the treatment of Syringomyelia and Chiari malformations. They would be happy to accept referrals from general practitioners or other hospital specialists.
This list is not meant as a referral, please research all Drs to find the Dr that is right for you.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum

You did not say if your wife was given a DX of Chiari....and there are several conditions that share symptoms....

Not being a medical professional.....I really do not know what to say except...if you can get copies of the reports and MRI's may help....you could send them off to Drs for review to see if they might be able to help.

This list of the Ann Conroy Trust is here for those in the UK.....use it to research Drs and get to know who might be the best Dr for her.

Know what ever the DX, you both are not alone.

Hello
I hope someone can help.My wife for the past year has beem complaining about back pains and numbness in her left hand and left leg also severe migranes .we visited the doctor and several times put it down to tiredness ect and gave her meds.it would go away temporarily and come back again.we thought it maybe over working ect as we have 4 kids.

Recently about 2 months ago again allot of pain same symptoms and doctor reffered for MRI. .weeks later we were told there is some sort of lump and would refer to neurologist.

Last week again she has been suffering with numbness and stiffness of the back and neck soo we went into A&E after several days keeping us in they carried out another MRI scan this time of the whole back which showed 3 areas where fluid is in her spine which is causing the nerves being irritated and causing all this numbness and pain.
They also did a x-ray and a brain scan which was ok.

Now the neurologist have advised that she takes several different pain killers along with morphine for the next 6 months and then will do anther MRI scan.they said the area where the fluid is a vast area and surgery would may well make it worse hence monitor for 6 months

My wife is 31 years old and she is going through soo much pain.we have 4 young children and am soo worried about it all.I cannot sleep as I worry that this may paralysis her.
Iv read soo much different opinions online and would just be greatful if someone can help with all this.
Thank you for reading and hope to hear from you
