Leg pain???

My legs hurt SO bad, I thought it could be a symptom of my meds but all of them TREAT leg pain.
It's an INTENSE aching from my hips to my feet. My arms hurt too, I know that the arm pain is from chiari, but could the leg pain be too?

Keeping in mind that Chiari affects the spinal cord which all  nerves flow thru....so, it is possible that any pain we have can be directly of not indirectly due to Chiari....

There are related conditions like Syringomyelia and tethered cord both of which could be responsible for arm or lag pain.....

Once you get to Shreveport you may have more answers.

Hello.  I have a question for you.  Can you tell me if one of the meds you take for the arm and leg pain is Trentnal?

I was just recently advised an rx would be given for that.  After reading up on it there seems to be rx of this med for arm and leg pain due to circulation issues.

You are the first post I have noticed that commented on leg pains.  I have had leg pains for a few years now.  It can get really bad like I am walking with concrete cinder blocks for shoes.....heavy and painful with difficulty walking and climbing stairs due to the pain.

Hope you feel better soon.

What types of activities do you do that requires you to stand. Leg pain must make anything you do more difficult. Are you able to rest with your feet elevated? I know this can help with your circulation, but it also allows your feet to rest - our feet take a lot of stress just doing normal activities. Do you have access to an indoor pool or a hot tub? The YMCA where I live has a whirlpool that is relaxing to people who take water aerobics. I find that it does relieve some of the pain I have in my hips from arthritis. I hope you do have the chance to rest your legs and get off your feet during your day.

This is both legs? How long has it been going on? Any specific activity? Have you had a full spine MRI yet. This could tell you about the above issues Selma brought up and is pretty important for someone with a Chiari diagnosis.

I have never have a full spine MRI, and that seems so strange to me given all my symptoms and DX of Chiari.
I have never taken Trentnal before but will ask my doctor about it, Does it help?
The leg pain started early last year and lasted a couple of weeks and disappeared for a month or so and would come back, it has slowly come on in the past year with more and more frequency over the past year. Now in the last 2-3 weeks it has become chronic.
My exercise regiment is pretty my whatever my body allows, with my head/neck pain, dizziness and leg pain, plus weakness it's heard to do much at all. But we live on a good bit of land and i'm a highly active person at heart so I DO push myself. Walking doesn't seem to stop the pain except while i'm actually WALKING. Stretching helps some but only momentarily. Magnesium rub helps a lot as well but doesn't last long, have to reapply a lot but I highly recommend it.

To not have a full spine MRI is not so odd when you are dealing with non Chiari specialists.....they are not aware of a syrinx in any other part of the spine then the cervical spine....they do not know the relationship btwn Chiari and EDS that can cause disk issues......

Magnesium can be a mineral you are low in and why it helps....I take magnesium supplements....

I never took that med either, but what I did notice with other meds...nothing helped my Chiari pain...

Knowing the different symptoms and indicators I did not think I had it, but when checked by a Dr I found I do have it....so let a Dr well informed help you figure it all out.....this is very important to know when you have Chiari as it is something to take into consideration if surgery is an option.

I am checking in with the responses that you are getting, and since January 27, are you feeling any relief for your leg pain? Are you walking? If balance is an issue for you, a treadmill could be safer as it has bars on each side that you can hold onto. I love my treadmill; I don't have to consider the weather. I am just thinking about you.
