Looking for a surgeon

I have recently been diagnosed with Chiari 1 Malformation.  I have had the symptoms for sometime and they are becoming more and more severe.  My PCP and I are currently looking for a Chiari Specialist in or near Arkansas.  Any suggestions?

No  I haven't ever heard of that dr and don't ever remember seeing his name in all my research. But that don't mean anything! Good luck to you and please keep us posted!

Thank you all for your helpful information.  My PCP called today and I have an appointment with Dr. Ali Krisht in Little Rock on March 2nd.  He is a world renowned neurosurgeon but I am not 100% sure that he specializes in Chiari.  I am considering seeing Dr. Krisht and then for a second opinion, going ahead and seeing Dr. Burson in Little Rock also.

Has anyone used or heard of Dr. Krisht?

I have an upcoming appointment with Dr burson and would be glad to let you know my experience. The only advice I feel confident in giving you is to stay away from Memphis doctors. Good Luck

I live in LR and my NS is Dr. Timothy Burson. I personally like him and think he knows chiari well and does many many successful chiari surgeries.

I went to Dr. Reza Shahim as my first NS but I don't reccomend him! That's why I went to Burson as 2nd opinion and like him much better!

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

We do have a list of drs that u can use to research to locate one that is right for u, the list is not a referral, u do have to do research on each dr to insure u find the right dr for u.....http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Chiari-Malformation/LIST-OF-CHIARI-SPECIALISTS/show/1293483

U may have to travel to get to a true chiari specialist and there is a big diff btwn a NS and a chiari specialist....so u do have to be sure u have the right one.

Do u also have a good NL near home?...u will need a NL to go to as well as a NS that is well informed on chiari.

We r happy to have u join us, but not happy for the reasons that bring u.
