Pediatric Neurosurgeons

Eleven year old son diagnosed this week, 15 mm. etc. Neuro called to schedule CSF flow study. Then said we would be sent to Neurosurgeon to determine need for surgery or not. I have wonderful insurance that allows us to go wherever we want and pays well. We want the best, it would be great if they were within driving distance to upstate SC, but the best is more important. We have traveled all over the country to various dr.'s for our daughters Port Wine Stain vascular birthmark and it has been a great benifit to her. We will do the same for our son. Any suggestions? Duke is the closest Pediatric that I find a Dr. Grant? Heard of him?

We used him, very well pleased -  top ten pedi-neurosurgeon in usa, subspecialty was/is chiari-malformation

He did a PFD w/o duraplasty-laminectomy c-1 and fused c-1& c-2.  Very conservative.. will not do surgery unless indicated--  SENT ALL RECORDS with me, said they were MINE.. and keep them - he is great- n had people from all over the world in his office waiting to see him.

Neuro wants to send us to Ped Neurosurgeon Dr. Christopher Troup in Greenville SC at the Southeastern Neuro something or other. Still will get 2nd opinion regardless.

I had my surgery done dr harold rekate he was an awesome pediatric surgeon! He was in AZ but I believe he just moved the the chiari institute... I can check my paperwork and verify where he moved to if you are interested.

Dr Frim is in Chicago and is a chiari peds specialist.

Does anyone know anything about Dr. Moriarty in Louisville,Ky or Dr.Kerry Crone from the Cincinatti Childrens hospital?
