Raised incision....

Hi, I had my stitches removed Tuesday even though I had fluid buildup near incision. Last night I started leaking fluid through my incision and went to the ER. My surgeon was going to keep me but said if my leak stopped with a stitch and didn’t leak again after a hour or so of observation I could go home. Long story short, I got to go home. They didn’t think it was a patch leak since the stitch stopped it. He also drained the pocket of fluid the best he could, he said there was scar tissue and wasn’t able to get it flat. This morning I noticed my incision is raised/swollen. It’s not painful, and it’s not raised a lot but it’s only raised at the part they stitched and up. The incision also feels firm not soft. Is this from the stitches?

Hmmm not sure what is going on....but just as a reference I had what I called oozing.....it continued for 9 months post op.....and then it just stopped....I kept the incision covered so as not to get dirt into it and used a topical antibiotic ointment on it......That was 9 years ago this coming May.

Hi, what was your ozzing like? I did wake up yesterday morning and felt like 2 lines of water like substance going down my neck, and then it stopped. I started to panic and stayed up rest of night but didn’t feel anything.when I was in hospital I could tell it definitely needed to be stitched, but I guess it wasn’t serious because the stitch fixed whatever problem was. Just makes you nervous
I know what you mean I was very nervous as well....I took pictures of it and sent it to my Dr  since he was out of state for me.....
For me it was just random oozing...I could always tell just before it would start....the skin felt like it was stretched thin and itchy and it would start and stop just as soon as I noticed....I would blot it with a tissue and as I mentioned kept it covered .....I was always wearing a hat......just to keep dirt off the area....and I had a topical antibacterial ointment I would put on it daily.
