Second surgery experience?

Hello,

I had decompression surgery about two and a half years ago for chiari type 1. My symptoms have not improved and after several MRIs my surgeon has informed me that scar tissue has built up around the brain stem blocking the ventricle and preventing sufficient CSF flow. Endoscopic third ventriculostomy. Has anyone experienced needing this as a second surgery following their decompression?

Symptoms post op include migraine, pressure, nausea, clumsiness, fatigue, muscle pain etc.

Please don't do decompression again!!! Make sure to look into other surgical options before jumping into decompression. This procedureeven works great on people who have already had decompression. Decompression usually only provides temporary relief before symptoms return and progression continues.Tight or diseased Filium  is a major cause of chiari and syringomyelia. I had chiari, a syrinx, syringomyelia, mild scoliosis and several bulging cervical discs. I Had a simple surgery in Barcelona with one night in the hospital. Doing fantastic. 100% of my symptoms were gone within two days of surgery. Doctor here is now invited to serve on the new worldwide chiari and syringomyelia task force. Global expert. Know many other people who had the same procedure and all doing great years later including small children. France and Italy Healthcare system will pay for the surgery in Spain. The doctors in Barcelona will review MRI's and history for no charge and let you know if you are a candidate for their procedure.

Hi Krystinamarie...there have been a few others that have had issues such as your scar tissue forming and creating yet another CSF obstruction and had surgery to help restore flow.  Do you know did you have a dura patch placed and what type was it.....then did they also rule out EDS?
