Right Side Numbness

Has anyone else experienced right side numbness? It started in early June with what I described as a fire ball directly below my rib cage on the right side and the numbness is only on the right side front, wrapping around to the back....it progressed over a few weeks to the top (only) of my right thigh and groin area....the numbness has since gone down my right leg and into my foot and toes...again, only on my right side. I have had blood work.....nothing......a lumbar MRI...nothing.... Doppler test on my legs....nothing....upper body MRI and head MRI with contrast....nothing......nerve tests( Awful tests, by the way!)....still nothing.....a spinal tap....nothing.......finally a neck MRI and I got the report in the mail Saturday and it reads Chiari I Malformation. I feel as though my neurologist seems to have sorta given up on me...after my spinal tap and before the neck MRI, she basically said she didn't know what my problem was and to go to physical therapy. I have gone to P/T and got some good stretching and muscle exercises for my legs. Currently, I am scheduled to go see my NR next Tuesday. I was just wondering if others have had the numbness issue to this degree. I have read several of the blogs here and haven't seen one with my issues. I cannot use my right foot to drive as I cannot feel the pedal...the left foot is now having extreme heat and cold feelings....one minute it feels like it's on fire an the next it's feels like it's packed in ice! Weird, but I am thrilled it's not numb...yet! Any response is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

my numbness is in my right shoulder and arm.  Hang in there and see a speacialist, from what the people in this community have taught me if you want proper answers go there apparently misdiagnosis and mistreatmenet out side of the speacialists is very very common.  this is a great support system and hang in there.

too bad we couldnt all meet together for everyones aptments as a group these docs would start to listen and maybe even study up on the condition they dont seem to know much about.

hi there,

i must say that i had, right side numbness at 17, again 6 yrs later, couldnt walk prop for a month after that, 3 yrs later i got it left side, that was april last yr, i have not come right, and have more stuff happening now,
My numbness starts in my hands then i cant grab or lift things, over a period of minutes it moves to my face lips, tounge, cheek, sometimes eye (all that same side) i then feel sick, and shakey, my heart rate goes up, i get dizzy and the then i lean to left side,
At times i cant drive because my legs dont have strengh, or i nearly crash into people,
other days i could dance for hrs and then i couldnt walk up driveway to get mail,
so yeh , im starting to learn that everyone has differnt problems with it,

how much of a drop do you have?

HI and welcome to the Chiari forum.

We all tend to get the numbness, but possibly in different ways...mine was all on my left....my left hand, my left leg....I had other numbness...facial.....buttocks....

But, I feel the way u describe it, it may be ur experience...we all will have siff experiences with chiari.

Once u get to a chiari specialist u will understand more as to y u feel like u do.....and it will be hard to find someone with the exact experience, but similar u will find most if not all can say yes to that.

U r not alone....
