Sleeping Problems

Does anyone else have problems with their necks, heads and backs while trying to sleep lying down?  I feel like I almost have to sleep sitting up!  I'm actually going to go buy a bed rest/back rest pillow to put in my bed so that I can sleep sitting up.  I've been having a lot of neck and back pain/burning pressure lately though and I can't sleep lying down.  Just wondering if anyone else has this same problem.  It's so wierd to me how quickly my symptoms have seemed to progress lately.  Did anyone else have their symptoms progress super fast.  It's like my life got hit by a Chiari Mack truck!  It is nuts!  I've got 3 days until I go to the NS and while I know there are no magic pills waiting for me there, I do hope there are some sort of answers.  My husband does think that there are some sort of magic pills there and it's driving me nuts.  I think that he thinks that they're going to see me on Wednesday and cut my head open on Thursday and I'll be healed on Friday and that will be that.  I know he's frustrated and overwhelmed just like I am though.  Poor guy.  Anyway.  Just wondering if anyone else has to sleep sitting up like a weirdo.  I guess Chiarians are like Coneheads LOL.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Do u have a Chiari DX as well, and were all ur surgeries Chiari related?

Have u been checked for related conditions as well?

I agree, the beds in the hospital are great bcuz they are adjustable...and I wish I had one too...

May I ask y u r having so many issues? What did ur Dr say?

I have had three neck surgeries and still can not sleep lying down.  After ten minutes I get sharp shooting pain going up both sides of my neck.  Thank god for my adjustable bed, but I wish I had answers.

Hi....yes I had so many different pillows and this past Christmas my DD bought one for me that I took along to the hosp....it is great and even the nurses commented on it being the right pillow.

It is the memory foam so u have support, but it is soft....and this looks like half a bolster pillow.......tube like......rounded on one side flat on the other.......

It is made by Homedics.

Hey there:)
I know my daughter was sleeping with pillows prupt up for a long time before her tethered cord surgery because her back and leg pains were unbareable. After the surgery it kind of got better but then she too got hit with the same Chiari truck:D
And her symtoms kicked in really quick with the unbareable head, neck, shoulder pain, tingling arms, hands, her legs again everyhing, she felt like all her symptoms before her TC surgery were coming back. The answer to your question is yes:) my daughter had to sleep like a weirdo too before her surgeries:) God bless.
