Spinal Fluid Finally Sealed!!!! Dealing with Low Potassium

My spinal fluid leak is gone!!!Thank you God!! The Dr. put this fourth blood patch in the thoracic area of my back - much higher than the first three which were in L4-5. I am almost four weeks free of that pain and brain fog. I am left with loud ringing in the ears, but that is also lessening as time goes on.
     I had another setback a week ago. ended up in the ER with horrible upper stomach pain, weakness, and nausea. The blood work showed my potassium level at 1.7! I knew nothing about potassium levels until this event. It took eight bags of potassium and eighteen hours of IV to bring my level up to 3.5. The low level shut down my GI system and I'm told that my level could have caused a stroke or heart attack. It got low because of a water pill I take and lasix which I sometimes add in because of leg swelling due to meds- celebrex and gabapentin. now I know I should have the Doctor monitor my potassium levels while on these drugs. So thankful that I didn't have any lasting problems.

  Glad the leaks were finally contained.....such a long process....

I know we all need to have our levels checked for magnesium, potassium, Vit D, and B12....

So many meds can deplete our ability to absorb the needed minerals and vitamins....those that take meds for GERD should be tested on a reg basis as well as these meds deplete magnesium and low magnesium will cause low Vit D too...

Thanks for the update and reminder to always get levels checked and to know how the meds we take may affect us.

I am glad for you, Prayer does work.  Yes if this can happen on the meds get them checked.
