Symptoms question

Anyone have hyper reflexes as a symptom? My left leg was extra "exciteable" in my doctor appointment this morning. Also, are muscle twitches a common symptom? Thanks:)

I was told by my NL that it could be early signs of ALS but I refuse to believe that. I believe it is definitely Chiari related.

There r soooooooooo many conditions with similar symptoms that we all get  tested and have ruled out MS< Lupus, Lymes, and even ALS....

Look to family history, get all the testing...and get the best well experienced drs in the area  of ur dx...so if u r dx'd with chiari do not go to just a NS got to a chiari specialist.

Relax, take ur time and know u r not alone : )

Thanks for everyone's responses. I know I have chiari, although I don't know to what extend. But now I'm experiencing these new symptoms that are scarring me as they point to esrly ALS. I'm going to a neurologist this week so hopefully I can get some answers (and stop trying to self-diagnose). Once the usuals are ruled out, I'll fight with my insurance to cover a chiari specialist as currently they are all out of network. So anyway, thanks!

Yes, I have very hyper (brisk) reflexes on the left side as well as weakness. As of yet, all that has been found is a 7-8 mm cerebellar ectopia.

My daughter also has hyper reflexes and spasitity. She has 2 syrinxes also. That symptom was the 3rd mostimportant in her dr's list of what he found on neuro exam. 1st concern breathing issues, 2nd no gag reflex, 3rd I mentioned above 4th balance issues and it goes on.  You can research each diagnosis and see the related symptoms. I'm an ICU/charge nurse and there is some really good info out there. Look for medical sites.

I have always been hyper reflexive and no one thought it meant anything...but I am starting to think it is all connected.

I am also hyper-reflexive.  I think it's classic compression.

Hi! I'm very hyper reflexive, but was told it us because of my syrinx and nerve damage. My chiari caused my syrinx, but the chairi itself didn't cause my hyper reflexiveness.
im not sure though if chiari causes that or not! Sorry! But there are tons of helpful people on here!
Mazie :)
