The same

Hello everyone, I haven't posted in a long time. I had decompression surgery in 2011, and my symptoms were better for about a week, I literally felt like superwoman, but they came back. I feel no different now than I did before the surgery and somedays it's worse. My question is, does anyone else experience this?

I also had headaches post decompression. Mine were related to high intercranial pressure and resolved with a fairly low twice-daily dose of Diamox.

When you had your decompression, did you have the full deal -- bony decompression with dural patch? My first surgery was a bony decompression only and the results were very short-lived. I had much better results with the full deal.

U r welcome.....there is no rhyme or reason as to who will or will not develop an ICP issue post op....and many Drs that do this surgery are not familiar with some of these related issues that can develop post op...so they look to ur scar and it is healed so u should be too....and as well all know too well that is not always the case.

I pray the LP can give u some answers. Good Luck.

Yes, I've had several MRI tests since the surgery and I was told everything looked ok. The old symptoms are still there and some new ones developed. I've seen a slew of specialists but no difinitive answers as to why all the problems still. There is a lumbar puncture scheduled for this month to check the pressure. Hopefully this test will reveal some answers and I can finally find some relief. Thank you selmaS.

Welcome Back, but so sorry for the reasons u r here.

Many of us do feel wonderful and that we can take on the world post op,and far too many try to too....and that can be our downfall....over doing it too soon or at all will affect us especially those with related conditions.

Did u have a post op MRI? What did ur Dr say to u feeling worse?

We have had several that had a return of symptoms and it can be a related condition or something that u developed post op.....and lastly it can be due to the surgery itself.,..,the patch used can fail, too much bone removed can cause ptosis....

So again, I have to ask were u tested for related conditions and what did ur Dr say when u informed him how u were doing?
